Olfactory neurons plasticity : environment effects during development

2012

In order to investigate the consequences of postnatal odorant exposure on a specific population of olfactory sensory neurons (OSNs), we have taken the following experimental approach. MOR23-GFP mice were daily exposed to Lyral for 21 days starting at birth and three lines of investigations were carried out. Using anatomical analysis we observe that the density of OSNs expressing MOR23 decreases after odorant exposure. This decrease concerns primarily matures OSN (MOR23-OMP+). In order to study molecular changes within individual OSNs, mRNA levels for olfactory signaling pathway components were quantitatively analyzed using qPCR on GFP-labeled neurons (7 per mouse). mRNAs for CNGA2, PDE1C an…

Soil DNA evidence for altered microbial diversity after long-term application of municipal wastewater

2010

International audience; Water resources constitute a social, agricultural and economic problem in most countries of the southern Mediterranean Basin. Alternative strategies have been developed such as the reuse of municipal wastewater for irrigation in agriculture. Despite numerous advantages for soil fertility and crop productivity, recycling wastewater in soils also has several ecotoxicological and sanitary problems. Few investigations have assessed the risk by evaluating the impact of wastewater irrigation on soil microbes. Here, we report for the first time the short- and long-term effects of treated municipal wastewater irrigation on the density and genetic structure of bacterial and f…

Développement de méthodes de référence pour les biomarqueurs du bilan lipidique : application au contrôle qualité en biologie clinique

2013

Reliable measurements in medical biology are essential for early screening and appropriate follow-up of patients. Ensuring metrological traceability of clinical measurements to higher order reference methods or certified reference materials enables to obtain comparable results over time and between different laboratories that could use different methods to quantify the same biomarker. In this study, reference methods were developed and validated for lipid profile biomarkers (total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL-C, and LDL-C). Their value added in proficiency testing schemes was demonstrated against consensus mean. They were also used to characterize a certified reference material (CRM) that…

How to explain the introduction of common ragweed into Europe during the XIXth century?

2012

EA EcolDur (équipe CAPA) CT3; Various reasons can explain the success of A. artemisiifolia in France and in Europe :* introduction of plants from various sources (in space and time)* strong variability (morphology, size, etc.) * ecological plasticityDifferent situations across areas and countriesThe dominant habitats and the spread vector can differPotentially strong effects of the landscape (soil use)

Population Structure and Comparative Genome Hybridization of European Flor Yeast Reveal a Unique Group of Saccharomyces cerevisiae Strains with Few G…

2014

Wine biological aging is a wine making process used to produce specific beverages in several countries in Europe, including Spain, Italy, France, and Hungary. This process involves the formation of a velum at the surface of the wine. Here, we present the first large scale comparison of all European flor strains involved in this process. We inferred the population structure of these European flor strains from their microsatellite genotype diversity and analyzed their ploidy. We show that almost all of these flor strains belong to the same cluster and are diploid, except for a few Spanish strains. Comparison of the array hybridization profile of six flor strains originating from these four co…
