Cancer and central nervous system disorders: protocol for an umbrella review of systematic reviews and updated meta-analyses of observational studies
2017
[Background] The objective of this study will be to synthesize the epidemiological evidence and evaluate the validity of the associations between central nervous system disorders and the risk of developing or dying from cancer.
Identification of a β-Dystroglycan Immunoreactive Subcompartment in Photoreceptor Terminals
2005
PURPOSE Mutations in the dystrophin-associated glycoprotein complex (DGC) cause various forms of muscular dystrophy. These diseases are characterized by progressive loss of skeletal muscle tissue and by dysfunctions in the central nervous system (CNS). The CNS deficits include an altered electroretinogram, caused by an impaired synaptic transmission between photoreceptors and their postsynaptic target cells in the outer plexiform layer (OPL). The DGC is concentrated in the OPL but its exact distribution is controversial. Therefore, the precise distribution of beta-dystroglycan, the central component of the DGC, within the OPL of the mature chick retina, was determined. METHODS Double immuno…
Retinal neurodegenerative changes in the adult insulin receptor substrate-2 deficient mouse.
2014
Abstract Insulin receptor substrate-2 (Irs2) mediates peripheral insulin action and is essential for retinal health. Previous investigations have reported severe photoreceptor degeneration and abnormal visual function in Irs2-deficient mice. However, molecular changes in the Irs2 − / − mouse retina have not been described. In this study, we examined retinal degenerative changes in neuronal and glial cells of adult (9- and 12-week old) Irs2 − / − mice by immunohistochemistry. 9-week old Irs2 − / − mice showed significant thinning of outer retinal layers, concomitant to Muller and microglial cell activation. Photoreceptor cells displayed different signs of degeneration, such as outer/inner…
Gobio Genus Species Integrated Management System – Târnava Rivers Study Case (Transylvania, Romania)
2019
Abstract The lotic habitats quality indicative congeners species Gobio gobio, Gobio kessleri and Gobio albipinnatus populations’ dynamic in time (2004-2019) and space revealed a decreasing trend in these rivers ecological status. The ADONIS:CE tool has been used to build a backing management system model, based on these indicative fish species habitat needs, indicators for favourable conservation status, pressures and threats. This management system implementation in the field will favour the amelioration of lotic habitats and the ecological status recovering of two of the local fish species of conservative interest (G. kessleri and G. albipinnatus).
Templated synthesis of a rotaxane with a [Ru(diimine)3]2+ core.
2003
A rotaxane containing a ruthenium bisphenanthroline complex, acting as an axis, and a macrocycle incorporating a 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) unit, threaded by the axis, has been synthesized. The bisphenanthroline ligand is such that its ruthenium(II) complexes possess a clearly identified axis, making such compounds ideal components of rotaxanes constructed around an octahedral ruthenium(II) center, which serves as a template. The ring is threaded by the axial ruthenium(II) precursor complex, to afford the corresponding pseudorotaxane in moderate yield. The X-ray structure analysis of this compound reveals the threaded nature of the complex. The length of the threaded ring (35 atoms in the periph…

Infinite coordination polymer networks metallogelation of aminopyridine conjugates and in situ silver nanoparticle formation
2018
Herein we report silver(i) directed infinite coordination polymer network (ICPN) induced self-assembly of low molecular weight organic ligands leading to metallogelation. Structurally simple ligands are derived from 3-aminopyridine and 4-aminopyridine conjugates which are composed of either pyridine or 2,2'-bipyridine cores. The cation specific gelation was found to be independent of the counter anion, leading to highly entangled fibrillar networks facilitating the immobilization of solvent molecules. Rheological studies revealed that the elastic storage modulus (G') of a given gelator molecule is counter anion dependent. The metallogels derived from ligands containing a bipyridine core dis…
Photochemical sample treatment for extracts clean up in PCB analysis from sediments.
2013
Sample purification can be considered the most polluting step of the whole analytical process for PCBs determination in sediment samples. The use of photochemical sample treatment represents an alternative methodology for extracts clean up allowing for a reduction of the used amount of organic solvents. The first application of a photochemical sample treatment for the selective removal or reduction of organic substances interfering with PCBs analyses in sediments is reported. The method's efficiency and robustness were compared with currently used chromatographic purification. Quality parameters such as recovery, linearity and reproducibility were studied. The entire procedure was validated…

The organotin(IV) compounds, [Ph 3 SnL 1 H] n · nCCl 4 ( 1 ), [Me 2 SnL 2 (OH 2 )] ( 2 ), [ n Bu 2 SnL 2 ] ( 3 ), [Ph 2 SnL 2 ] n ( 4 ), [Ph 3 SnL 2 H] n ( 5 ) and [Ph 3 SnL 3 H] n ( 7 ) (L 1 = 2-{[(2 Z )-(3-hydroxy-1-methyl-2-butenylidene)]amino}phenylpropionate and L 2−3 = 2-{[( E )-1-(2-hydroxyaryl)alkylidene]amino}phenylpropionate), were synthesized by treating the appropriate organotin(IV) chloride(s) with the potassium salt of the ligand in a suitable solvent, while [ n Bu 2 SnL 3 (OH 2 )] ( 6 ) was obtained by reacting the acid form of L 3 (generated in situ) with n Bu 2 SnO. These complexes have been characterized by 1 H, 13 C, 119 Sn NMR, ESI-MS, IR and 119m Sn Mossbauer spectro…
Structural Variation and Magneto-Structural Correlation in Two New Dinuclear Bis(µ2-Phenoxo)-Bridged CuII Schiff-Base Complexes: Catalytic Potential …
2010
Two new dinuclear bis(μ2-phenoxo)-bridged copper(ii) complexes [Cu(NCS)L1]2 (1) and [Cu(NCS)L2]2 (2) have been synthesized using two tridentate NNO-donor Schiff-base ligands, L1H (Me2N(CH2)3N=CHC6H3(OMe)(OH)) and L2H (Me2N(CH2)3N=C(CH3)C6H4(OH)), respectively. They have been characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV-visible, and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. X-Ray single-crystal structures reveal a central Cu2O2 core in each complex with an isothiocyanate ligand coordinated terminally to each metal centre. The coordination environments around the CuII ions in 1 and 2 are a distorted trigonal bipyramid and…
