La Géométrie pour l'Unicité, la Parcimonie et l'Appariement des Estimateurs Pénalisés

During the talk we will give a necessary and sufficient condition for the uniqueness of a penalized least squares estimator whose penalty term is a polyhedral norm. Our results cover many methods including the OSCAR, SLOPE and LASSO estimators as well as the related method of basis pursuit. The geometrical condition for uniqueness involves how the row span of the design matrix intersects the faces of the dual normunit ball. Theoretical results on sparsity by LASSO and basis pursuit estimators are deduced from this condition via the characterization of accessible sign vectors for these two methods.

Stable isotope mixing models in aquatic ecology require δ13C values for food web end members such as phytoplankton and bacteria, however it is rarely possible to measure these directly. Hence there is a critical need for improved methods for estimating the δ13C ratios of phytoplankton, bacteria and terrestrial detritus from within mixed seston. We determined the δ13C values of lipids, phospholipids and biomarker fatty acids and used these to calculate isotopic differences compared to the whole-cell δ13C values for eight phytoplankton classes, five bacterial taxa, and three types of terrestrial organic matter (two trees and one grass). Ecklonia maxima and the commercial biostimulants produced from it contain various plant growth regulators that are responsible for the growth stimulation recorded in many crops. Auxins are one of the major plant growth regulators contained in E. maxima extracts. Dans un contexte de stagnation de leur consommation, il semble judicieux de tenter de comprendre quels en sont les freins. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää Keski-Suomen alueella toteutettuun ryhmäohjaukseen osallistuneiden ryhmäläisten kasvisten syömistä 12 kuukauden aikana. Tavoitteena oli tutkia tuoreiden kasvisten, kypsennettyjen kasvisten sekä hedelmien ja marjojen käyttöä ja niiden syönnissä tapahtunutta muutosta. Lisäksi selvitettiin, miten sukupuoli, paino, painoindeksi, vyötärönympärys ja elämäntilanne ovat yhteydessä kasvisten syömiseen sekä miten yksilön aikomus muuttaa ruokakäyttäytymistä vaikuttaa itse muutoksen tekemiseen.
