From Land Reform to Hyperinflation: The Zimbabwean Experience of 1997-2008

This article has for objective to contribute to the understanding of the Zimbabwean hyperinflation. The agrarian reform announced in November, 1997 is at the origin of this hyperinflation. This led to a massive outflow of capital and a disruption in the production that cause over several years the degradation of the foreign accounts, and a trend depreciation of the Zimbabwean dollar. The depreciation, via the increase of the costs in the import, cause the strong increase in prices. Lossless and nearly-lossless image compression based on combinatorial transforms

Common image compression standards are usually based on frequency transform such as Discrete Cosine Transform or Wavelets. We present a different approach for loss-less image compression, it is based on combinatorial transform. The main transform is Burrows Wheeler Transform (BWT) which tends to reorder symbols according to their following context. It becomes a promising compression approach based on contextmodelling. Search for low-energy neutrinos from astrophysical sources with Borexino

We report on searches for neutrinos and antineutrinos from astrophysical sources performed with the Borexino detector at the Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso in Italy. Electron antineutrinos ($\bar{\nu}_e$) are detected in an organic liquid scintillator through the inverse $\beta$-decay reaction. In the present work we set model-independent upper limits in the energy range 1.8-16.8 MeV on neutrino fluxes from unknown sources that improve our previous results, on average, by a factor 2.5. Using the same data set, we first obtain experimental constraints on the diffuse supernova $\bar{\nu}_e$ fluxes in the previously unexplored region below 8 MeV. Background: Lactoferrin is a mammalian milk glycoprotein involved in innate immunity. Recent data show that bovine lactoferrin (bLF) prevents late-onset sepsis in preterm very low birth weight (VLBW) neonates. Methods: This is a secondary analysis of data from a multicenter randomized controlled trial where preterm VLBW neonates randomly received bLF (100 mg/day; group A1), bLF + Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (106 colony-forming units per day; group A2), or placebo (group B) for 6 weeks. W artykule przedstawiono kierunki rozwoju sieci autostrad i dróg ekspresowych w Polsce w latach 1990-2018. Sieć dróg szybkiego ruchu w kraju jest intensywnie rozbudowywana. Płatne dla pojazdów samochodowych autostrady są uzupełniane siecią bezpłatnych dróg ekspresowych, głównie dwujezdniowych. Program budowy dróg ekspresowych na lata 2014-2023 jest konsekwentnie realizowany. Zbudowano główne autostrady kraju A-1, A-2 i A-4. W trakcie rozbudowy są drogi ekspresowe S-3, S-5, S-6, S-7, S-8, S17, S-19 i S-61. Aktualne inwestycje drogowe koncentrują się na budowie brakujących odcinków dróg ekspresowych i obwodnic miast. Galvenais darba mērķis – salīdzināt un izanalizēt pētnieku viedokli par Kanarisa ieguldījumu Abvēra veidošanā un darbībā 1935.-1944. gados, viņa lomu sazvērestībās pret Hitleru un Pretošanās kustībā Vācijā, iespējamo sadarbību ar britu izlūkdienestu un Kanarisa personības lomu Otrā pasaules kara un Vācijas specdienestu vēsturē.
