Zum Problem der Stickstoffbilanz beim Keimwachstum in Stabilisatoren

Es wurde das Keimwachstum in Verbindung mit Stickstoffbilanzen in experimentell infizierten Blutkonserve-Stabilisatoren untersucht. Hierbei zeigte sich, das bei einzelnen Stammen gramnegativer Stabchen eine deutliche Keimvermehrung in diesen Medien stattfindet, obwohl sie in ihrer chemischen Zusammensetzung keine Stickstoffquelle enthalten. Da es im Verlauf der Keimvermehrung zu einer progressiven N-Zunahme kam (Initialwert der beimpften Stabilisatormenge 4–6 γ, Endwert zwischen 10 und 20 γ/ml), vermuten wir, das eine Fixierung atmospharischen Stickstoffs durch die genannten Keime stattgefunden hat. Kontrollteste mit anderen gramnegativen sowie mit grampositiven Bakterien verliefen negativ.

Abstract Many bacteria have been observed to stop growing below a certain substrate threshold concentration. In this study, a modification of the Monod kinetics expression has been proposed to take into account this substrate threshold concentration observed in bacterial growth. Besides the threshold concentration no additional parameters have been added to the kinetic expression and so, only the substrate threshold concentration and the half-saturation constant have to be estimated for model calibration purposes. A model for the effect of pH on the growth of chalk yeasts.

Hyphopichia burtonii, Pichia anomala, and Saccharomycopsis fibuligera were isolated from spoiled packaged sliced bread. These chalk yeasts were characterized by a wide range of pH for which growth was almost optimum. Thus, the curve growth vs pH exhibited plateau and sharp profiles close to the minimum and the maximum pH. This study described a chalk yeast model (CYM) for the effect of pH derived from a new germination model for fungi (Dantigny, P., Nanguy, S., P.-M., Judet-Correia, D., and Bensoussan, M. 2011, International Journal of Food Microbiology, 146, 176-181). Growth potential of Listeria monocytogenes strains in mixed ready-to-eat salads

In this study, a microbiological challenge test in three artificially contaminated retail mixed mayonnaise-based ready-to-eat salads stored at refrigerator temperatures (3°C and 7°C) for 48h was carried out. Shrimp-tomato salad, smoked ham salad and garlic cheese salad were separately contaminated by a suspension of particular Listeria monocytogenes strains. The number of L. monocytogenes, Enterobacteriaceae, staphylococci and total plate count (CFU/g) was determined. Listeria monocytogenes growth potential in the salads was calculated and evaluated. This study presents an evaluation of the SOS/umu-test after introducing an additional dilution and incubation in the post-treatment assay. This treatment reduces the influence of coloured test compounds that otherwise affect the colorimetric determination of the beta-galactosidase activity and the bacterial growth measurement during the testing of complex environmental samples. The objective of this study was to assess the antimicrobial effectiveness of chitosonium acetate films on the growth of Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella spp. and Staphylococcus aureus. The samples were tested in both laboratory conditions using Tryptone Soy Broth (TSB) and in a real food system using fish soup. In vitro antibacterial activity of endodontic sealers

Summary Objectives To evaluate the antibacterial activity of four endodontic sealers: one epoxy resin sealer (AH Plus), two zinc oxide eugenol (ZOE)-based sealers (Endomethasone, Pulp Canal Sealer), and one sealer containing both ZOE and orthophenilphenol (Vcanalare). Methods A direct contact test (DCT) was performed. A 10 μl suspension of Enterococcus faecalis was placed on the test material 20 min, 24 h and 7 days after mixing. Bacteria were allowed to directly contact the sealers for 1 h at 37 °C. Bacterial growth was then spectrophotometrically measured every 30 min for 7 h, and again after 24 h as well.
