Es wird ein Verfahren zur quantitativen Bestimmung verschiedener Opiumalkaloide nebeneinander beschrieben, das auf der direkten Auswertung von DC durch Remissionsmessung mit Hilfe eines Chromatogramm-Spektralphotometers beruht. Anstelle des bisher ublichen Messpaltes wurde fur die Auswertung eine Kreisblende benutzt. Hierbei ist vorteilhaft, das die Form der Absorptions-Orts-Kurven keinen Einflus auf die Mesgenauigkeit besitzt, da nur die Peakhohe ausgewertet wird. Le diagnostic archéologique réalisé dans le sous-sol situé à l’ouest et au droit de la Salle des Gardes (Grand’Chambre) et de la Salle des Gens d’Armes (Grand’Salle) visait à accompagner la réalisation de cinq sondages de repérage initiés par le Centre des Monuments Nationaux pour rechercher, côté sud, un potentiel sol contemporain de l’édifice médiéval attenant (zone test 1) et côté nord pour retrouver les traces d’un ancien pavillon (zone test 2). Completely isolatedAplysia pacemaker neurons were used to investigate mechanisms of endogenous electrical rhythmicity. This preparation allows the study of pure pacemaker activity free from synaptic, ephaptic and/or humoral influences from the surrounding cells. The effect of some substances quite different in their mode of biochemical action were tested: sodium iodoacetate, phloridzin, dinitrophenol, heavy water, and ouabain. Each of these substances suppressed the spontaneous spike activity without any marked depolarizing or hyperpolarizing effect. Abstract Cardiac glycosides inhibit the Na + ,K + -ATPase and are used for the treatment of symptomatic heart failure and atrial fibrillation. In human heart three isoforms of Na + ,K + -ATPase are expressed: α 1 β 1 , α 2 β 1 and α 3 β 1 . It is unknown, if clinically used cardiac glycosides differ in isoform specific affinities, and if the isoforms have specific subcellular localization in human cardiac myocytes. Isolated rabbit hearts were perfused with Tyrode solution containing 10 ng/ml (-)-noradrenaline for 20 min. The uptake by the heart of noradrenaline was calculated by estimating the percentage of amine removed from the perfusion fluid during a single passage through the heart. Previous experiments have shown that the amount of noradrenaline removed from the perfusion fluid corresponds well to the amount retained by the heart. In control experiments, the mean removal (elimination) of noradrenaline was 50±1.7% of the amount infused as measured biologically and 46±2.2% as measured fluorimetrically. 1. Inhalation of vanadium compounds, particularly vanadate, is a cause of occupational bronchial asthma. We have now studied the action of vanadate on human isolated bronchus. Vanadate (0.1 microM-3 mM) produced concentration-dependent, well-sustained contraction. Its -logEC50 was 3.74 +/- 0.05 (mean +/- s.e.mean) and its maximal effect was equivalent to 97.5 +/- 4.2% of the response to acetylcholine (ACh, 1 mM). 2. Vanadate (200 microM)-induced contraction of human bronchus was epithelium-independent and was not inhibited by indomethacin (2.8 microM), zileuton (10 microM), a mixture of atropine, mepyramine and phentolamine (each at 1 microM), or by mast cell degranulation with compound 48/…
