Labor Market Imbalances and Personnel Recruitment

2019

When the economy of a country starts to expand or collapse in wealth, it is reflected in the labor market with an impact on employment and personnel recruitment processes. The aim of this article is to investigate the relationship between personnel recruitment and job market imbalances in the various de- velopmental conditions of the macroeconomic environment. Research find- ings show that employers tend to adopt more active, formal, competitive, targeted, and selective search behaviors in the positive cycles of the economy and employment. Conversely, in downturns of the economy and employ- ment, employers tend to be more passive and defensive, relying on informal relationships and, in some…

Prioritization of the balancing property and full estimability in mixed-level designs

2008

In a recently published work, a new class of Balanced Asymmetrical Nearly Orthogonal Designs (BANOD2) was proposed, which can simultaneously estimate both first and second order effects of all factors, with a limited run size. The motivation for the new class lies in using the balancing property as a necessary precondition for several practical concerns arising in the experimentation field. A balanced design optimizes the use of experimental resources in technological experiments, may avoid misinterpretations in choice experiments of marketing research, and can relieve the experimenter from the arbitrariness in assigning the levels to factors. Furthermore the balancing property assures the …

On the origins of body size dimorphism in primates

1986

Among many explanations concerning the origins of dimorphism in Primates, none has received as little attention as the differences in energy requirements of the two sexes. It is hypothesised that among Primates, a common strategy for overcoming the extra metabolic load of pregnency and lactation experienced by females during the greater part of their adult lifetimes, is for them to reduce their bodyweights relative to those of males. Such a strategy allows the mother plus infant combination to weight approximately as much as the species target weight or slightly less, preserving the balance between the species and the environment.

The effects of using participatory working time scheduling software on working hour characteristics and wellbeing : a quasi-experimental study of irr…

2020

Background: Studies in the health care sector indicate that good work time control is associated with better perceived wellbeing but also with non-ergonomic work schedules, such as compressed work schedules. Participatory working time scheduling is a collaborative approach to scheduling shift work. Currently, there is a lack of information on whether working hour characteristics and employees' wellbeing in irregular shift work change after implementing participatory working time scheduling. Objective: To investigate the effects of using digital participatory working time scheduling software on working hour characteristics and well-being among Finnish hospital employees. Participants and met…

Capturing shock waves in inelastic granular gases

2005

Shock waves in granular gases generated by hitting an obstacle at rest are treated by means of a shock capturing scheme that approximates the Euler equations of granular gas dynamics with an equation of state (EOS), introduced by Goldshtein and Shapiro [J. Fluid Mech. 282 (1995) 75-114], that takes into account the inelastic collisions of granules. We include a sink term in the energy balance to account for dissipation of the granular motion by collisional inelasticity, proposed by Haff [J. Fluid Mech. 134 (1983) 401-430], and the gravity field added as source terms. We have computed the approximate solution to a one-dimensional granular gas falling on a plate under the acceleration of grav…

Application of Mathematical Models in Analysis of Heat Losses in the Buildings

2006

Physical model of heat balance for separate living room is discussed, which allows to analyse the distributions of the flow of air and temperature depending on the physical conditions and geometry. The model enables to choose the optimal surface area of building elements and their properties in order to decrease the heat losses and improve the conditions of thermal comfort. Room with bounding constructions and real dimensions is modelled that helps to understand the peculiarities of heat transfer process in the room as well as distribution of various characteristic quantities and their dependence on the different conditions. Multiple parameters are varied in 2D calculations and their influe…

Energy balance in single exposure multispectral sensors

2013

International audience; Recent simulations of multispectral sensors are based on a simple Gaussian model, which includes filters transmittance and substrate absorption. In this paper we want to make the distinction between these two layers. We discuss the balance of energy by channel in multispectral solid state sensors and propose an updated simple Gaussian model to simulate multispectral sensors. Results are based on simulation of typical sensor configurations.
