Identification of Processes Associated with Different Iron Sites in the Prussian Blue Structure by in Situ Electrochemical, Gravimetric, and Spectros…
2012
The physicochemical properties of Prussian blue films are strongly dependent on the ratio Fe3+/Fe2+ in the structure. This ratio can be modulated by electrochemical techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, and some information about physicochemical properties can be extracted from in situ auxiliary techniques. Prussian blue films have been studied by the use of in situ vis–NIR spectroscopy, quartz crystal microbalance, and electrochemical techniques (cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy). By cyclic voltammetry + absorbance derivative curves + mass derivative curves, it has been possible to identify at least three different processes during the reduction of Prussian bl…
Study of Prussian Blue (PB) films by ac-electrogravimetry: influence of PB morphology on ions movement
2000
The electrochemical response of Prussian Blue films in NaCl solutions was studied. It was proved that the stability with cycling of PB films increased when these films are covered with a Nafion® membrane. This fact allows PB films to be studied in NaCl solutions under steady state conditions by impedance spectroscopy and ac-electrogravimetry. A model, which can explain the differences between the electrochemical behaviour of amorphous PB films and crystalline PB films in NaCl solutions, is proposed. This model is based on the hypothesis of a partial dehydration of the sodium ions before the electrochemical reactions take place, allowing the transport of sodium ions through the zeolitic chan…
Long-term patterns of effort-reward imbalance and over-commitment: Investigating occupational well-being and recovery experiences as outcomes
2013
The aim of this study was, first, to identify long-term patterns of effort-reward imbalance (ERI) and over-commitment (OVC), and, second, to examine how occupational well-being (burnout, work engagement) and recovery experiences (psychological detachment, relaxation, mastery and control) differ in these patterns. The study was based on follow-up data with three measurement points (2006, 2008, 2010) collected from Finnish managers (N=298). Latent Profile Analysis resulted in five long-term ERI-OVC patterns: a high-risk pattern (high ERI, high OVC), found in 20% of the participants; a low-risk pattern (low ERI, low OVC), found in 24% of participants; a relatively low-risk pattern (low ERI, mo…
Are balance problems connected to reading speed or the familial risk of dyslexia?
2011
Aim The aim of this study was to examine the connection between balance problems and reading speed in children with and without a familial risk of dyslexia by controlling for the effects of attention, hyperactivity, and cognitive and motor functioning. Method The prevalence of balance problems was studied in 94 children (48 females, 46 males) with a familial risk of dyslexia (at-risk group) and 85 children (38 females, 47 males) without a risk of dyslexia (comparison group). Further, the relationships between balance problems (at age 8y 6mo), reading proficiency (at age 9y), attention-deficit-hyperactivity disorder (at age 8y), and cognitive (at age 8y 6mo) and motor functioning (at age 6y …
Nordic Comparison of 75-Year-Olds - Sensory and Psychomotor Functions
1993
Sensory and psychomotor functions were studied among 75-year-old men and women in three Nordic localities (Glostrup in Denmark, Gothenburg in Sweden, and Jyvaskyla in Finland) as part of a comparative study on functional capacity and health. Random samples were drawn from the population registers in Glostrup (n=550) and Gothenburg (n=450), whereas in Jyvaskyla all 75-year-old residents (n=388) were invited to participate in the study. Participation rates varied from 66.8% in Gothenburg to 79.1% in Jyvaskyla. Sensory functions studied included hearing (pure-tone thresholds at 125-8000 Hz), vision (visual acuity, refraction, intraocular pressure), balance (postural sway), and tactual sensitiv…
Stratégies d’adaptation face à la douleur chronique
2017
Chronic pain constitutes a challenge for patients. It makes them uneasy with regard to their personality, their corporality and their life balance, and leaves long-lasting effects on their experience as a patient. The development of adaptation strategies and resources to deal with chronic pain is therefore essential.
Building dynamic balanced scorecards to enhance strategy design and planning in public utilities. Key-findings from a project in a city water company
2006
Increasing complexity and uncertainty of both business internal and external variables determines a growing need for prompt and accurate information. On this concern, in the last decade, there has been an increasing effort to provide public utilities with tools aimed to support decision makers in planning and control, by taking into account not only operational but also strategic issues. Among them, for 1instance, customer satisfaction, internal business process efficiency, business image, and bargaining power against other counterparts (e.g. the municipal administration). Often, however, such an effort has been oriented to generate a large volume of data, only focused on financial indicato…
Gli squilibri territoriali e la distribuzione territoriale degli investimenti pubblici
2020
The well-known connection between investment, growth and development requires that a political strategy that aims to overcome ter- ritorial gaps must be based on a redistribution of public resources for investments that favor the least favored regions in an adequately effective and compensatory manner. The aim of this work is to evaluate the consequentiality of political choices in Italy over the twenty years with respect to the objective of territorial rebalancing. After introducing the topic and recalling the hypotheses of territorial convergence / divergence (sections 1 and 2), this article presents the recent empirical evidence on the territorial distribution of public expenditure in It…
Envelopes of open sets and extending holomorphic functions on dual Banach spaces
2010
We investigate certain envelopes of open sets in dual Banach spaces which are related to extending holomorphic functions. We give a variety of examples of absolutely convex sets showing that the extension is in many cases not possible. We also establish connections to the study of iterated weak* sequential closures of convex sets in the dual of separable spaces.
Opportunities for Strategic Public Relations : Evaluation of International Research and Innovation Project Dissemination
2018
Abstract European industry, academia and potential end users for future solutions are widely involved in applying for European Union (EU) funding of research and innovation and implementation of the projects. Funding instrument requirements emphasise the influence of skills and know-how of these project consortia professionals. This chapter proposes a co-creative model for communication and dissemination, or project PR, based on the experiences of both planning and coordinating dissemination activities of three EU funded projects. Multidisciplinary international project Public Relations (PR) offers strategic opportunities for PR professionals. The model employs the co-creation methods based…
