The evolution of breast cancer mortality and morbidity in Spain (1977?1988)

A study of breast cancer mortality and cancer morbidity has been carried out in Spain recently for the period 1977-1988, covering the population of the 17 Autonomous Communities and 50 provinces of the country. Data was obtained from INE, Instituto Nacional de Estadística (National Institute of Statistics), with age standardization using the indirect method. The different Autonomous Communities and provinces were compared in order to establish possible significant differences. The crude mean mortality rate was 21 cases per 100,000 inhabitants/year; Las Palmas, Gerona, Barcelona, the Balearic Islands, Navarra and Zaragoza have the highest mortality rates, with a proportional increment of 54%…

Noves aportacions al catàleg d’exemplars tipus de la col·lecció malacològica del Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona S’amplia el catàleg d’exemplars tipus de mol·luscs del Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona, publicat l’any 2008, amb nou material corresponent a 42 tàxons de mol·luscs continentals de la península Ibèrica, les illes Balears i les Canàries. La majoria d’espècimens pertanyen a les col·leccions històriques del Museu o a la col·lecció malacològica de Miquel Bech, donada a la institució el 2009. Unveiling the Relationship Between Sea Surface Hydrographic Patterns and Tuna Larval Distribution in the Central Mediterranean Sea

Thunnus thynnus (Atlantic bluefin tuna, ABT) and other tuna species reproduce in the Mediterranean Sea during the summer period. Despite the Central Mediterranean Sea, the Strait of Sicily in particular, being a key spawning site for many tuna species, little is known on the effects of oceanographic variability on their larval distribution in this area. The abundance and presence-absence of larval specimens for three tuna species (ABT, bullet tuna and albacore) were modeled in order to examine their relationships with environmental factors, by analysing historical in situ information collected during seven annual surveys (2010–2016).
