BlotBase: a northern blot database.

2008

With the availability of high-throughput gene expression analysis, multiple public expression databases emerged, mostly based on microarray expression data. Although these databases are of significant biomedical value, they do hold significant drawbacks, especially concerning the reliability of single gene expression profiles obtained by microarray data. Simultaneously, reliable data on an individual gene's expression are often published as single northern blots in individual publications. These data were not yet available for high-throughput screening. To reduce the gap between high-throughput expression data and individual highly reliable expression data, we designed a novel database "Blo…

Næromsorgsør : En evaluering av et hjemmebasert tiltak for jenter i alderen 14-18 år

2007

On thermal behaviour of DMC catalysts for ring opening polymerization of epoxides

2016

Abstract The thermoanalytical studies of two types of the double metal cyanide catalysts were carried out. The identity of the catalysts was characterized by an elemental analysis and FTIR. The thermoanalytical examinations performed with the use of TG-DSC, EGA-FTIR, EGA-MS shed new light on views of the bonding of the ligands in the DMC. The chemical justification of the processes responsible for the TG/DSC steps was proposed. Several organic ligand complexing states were found in both types of catalysts. The ligand-DMC bondings were decomposing stepwise in relatively low temperature ranges, which could suggest their negligible role at catalytic reaction being performed usually at higher t…

Acid-Base Properties of 2:1 Clays. I. Modeling the Role of Electrostatics

2010

We present a theoretical investigation of the titratable charge of clays with various structural charge (sigma(b)): pyrophyllite (sigma(b) = 0 e x nm(-2)), montmorillonite (sigma(b) = -0.7 e x nm(-2)) and illite (sigma(b) = -1.2 e x nm(-2)). The calculations were carried out using a Monte Carlo method in the Grand Canonical ensemble and in the framework of the primitive model. The clay particle was modeled as a perfect hexagonal platelet, with an "ideal" crystal structure. The only fitting parameters used are the intrinsic equilibrium constants (pK(0)) for the protonation/deprotonation reactions of the broken-bond sites on the lateral faces of the clay particles, silanol, =SiO(-) + H(+) --=…

Non-Innocent Base Properties of 3- and 4-Pyridyl-dithia- and Diselenadiazolyl Radicals : The Effect of N-Methylation

2018

International audience; Condensation of persilylated nicotinimideamide and isonicotinimideamide with sulfur monochloride affords double salts of the 3-, 4-pyridyl-substituted 1,2,3,5-dithiadiazolylium DTDA cations of the general formula [3-, 4-pyDTDA][Cl][HCl] in which the pyridyl nitrogen serves as a noninnocent base. Reduction of these salts with triphenylantimony followed by deprotonation of the intermediate-protonated radical affords the free base radicals [3-, 4-pyDTDA], the crystal structures of which, along with those of their diselenadiazolyl analogues [3-, 4-pyDSDA], have been characterized by powder or single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structures consist of “pancake” π…

Acid–Base Properties and Surface Charge Distribution of the Water-Soluble Au102(pMBA)44 Nanocluster

2016

The pKa of the p-mercaptobenzoic acid (pMBA) ligands in the Au102(pMBA)44 nanocluster was measured by using acid–base and IR titration. The observed macroscopic pKa = 6.18 ± 0.05 is significantly more basic than that of free pMBA (pKa = 4.16), and the protonation behavior is anticooperative according to the Hill coefficient n = 0.64 ± 0.04. The cluster is truly water-soluble when more than 22 and insoluble when fewer than 7 ligands are in the deprotonated state. In order to obtain more insight into the anticooperative character, the cluster was modeled at pH ∼6.2 using constant pH molecular dynamics simulations. The pKa values of the individual pMBAs are in the range of 5.18–7.58, depending…

A convenient route for the preparation of the monohydride catalyst trans-[RuCl(H)(dppe)2] (dppe=Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2): improved synthesis and crystal struc…

2013

Abstract A novel and improved room temperature synthesis of the monohydride catalyst trans-[RuCl(H)(dppe)2] complex (1, dppe (1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane) = Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2) proceeds through oxidation of methanol (the solvent) by the pentacoordinated cis-[RuCl(dppe)2][PF6] complex and t-BuOK as the base is described. Compound 1 was fully characterized by NMR (1H, 13C, 31P), ESI-MS(TOF +), FTIR and elemental analysis. The X-ray structure of 1 was reported for the first time and unambiguously confirms the trans-configuration of the complex.

Multiply Transitive Permutation Groups

1982

Since the beginnings of finite group theory, the multiply transitive permutation groups have exercised a certain fascination. This is mainly due to the fact that apart from the symmetric and alternating groups not many of them were known. Only very recently final results about multiply transitive permutation groups have been proved, using the classification of all finite simple groups (see 7.5).

On finite products of totally permutable groups

1996

In this paper the structure of finite groups which are the product of two totally permutable subgroups is studied. In fact we can obtain the -residual, where is a formation, -projectors and -normalisers, where is a saturated formation, of the group from the corresponding subgroups of the factor subgroups.

Quantification of the Detrimental Effect of a Single Primer-Template Mismatch by Real-Time PCR Using the 16S rRNA Gene as an Example

2008

ABSTRACT We investigated the effects of internal primer-template mismatches on the efficiency of PCR amplification using the 16S rRNA gene as the model template DNA. We observed that the presence of a single mismatch in the second half of the primer extension sequence can result in an underestimation of up to 1,000-fold of the gene copy number, depending on the primer and position of the mismatch.
