Applicability of Interference Coordination in Highly Loaded HSUPA Network

2010

This paper evaluates the performance of highly loaded High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) network with and without network wide static Interference Coordination (IC). IC alternates the priorities for user transmission periods throughout the network to achieve reduced interference levels and higher performance. A large variety of combinations including, e.g., different schedulers, cell center/edge user definitions (user splits) and interference targets are investigated in this paper. Performance is analyzed using a quasi-static system level simulator which is also used to support Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) standardization work. The simulator contains detailed and commonl…

Multimode WSN: Improving Robustness, Fault Tolerance and Performance of Randomly Deployed Wireless Sensor Network

2010

This paper proposes an advanced, robust and flexible solution that applies the (revised) concept of Always Best Connected (ABC) Network, typical of multimode modern mobile devices, to Wireless Sensor Network. Hostile environments and unpredictable conditions (e.g. interferences) can negatively affect communication range, potentially increasing the number of unconnected nodes in random deployments. Multimode Wireless Sensor Network (MM-WSN) is provided with an adaptive mechanism for environmental condition evaluation and with the ability of self-configuring itself for optimal networking independence of detected conditions. Proposed solution is based on advanced smart nodes provided with mult…

User-cell association in heterogenous small cell networks: A context-aware approach

2015

Deploying small cells to complement the traditional cellular networks is foreseen as a major feature of the next generation of wireless networks. In this paper, a novel approach for addressing the cell association problem in heterogenous small cell networks is proposed. The presented approach exploits different types of information extracted from the user devices and environment to improve the way in which users are assigned to their serving small cell base stations (SBSs). We formulate the problem within the framework of matching theory, where the players, namely the users and SBSs, have interdependent preferences over the members of the opposite set. We also utilize the fuzzy synthetic ev…

Service discovery protocols in D2D-enabled cellular networks: Reactive versus proactive

2014

Device-to-Device (D2D) communication, which allows access services offered by nearby devices bypassing the base station, has been regarded as an essential component of the emerging 5G mobile networks. Many advantages can be provided by this direct communication paradigm such as high data rate, traffic offloading, range extension, as well as proximity services and social networking. In such a context, service discovery approaches need to be investigated. In this paper, we propose two protocols for service discovery, namely, reactive (pull) discovery and proactive (push) discovery in infrastructure-coordinated D2D networks. The protocol overhead is calculated and numerical results are provide…

Robust Transmission for Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface Aided Millimeter Wave Vehicular Communications With Statistical CSI

2022

The integration of reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) into millimeter wave (mmWave) vehicular communications offers the possibility to unleash the potential of future proliferating vehicular applications. However, the high-mobility-induced rapidly varying channel state information (CSI) has been making it challenging to obtain the accurate instantaneous CSI (I-CSI) and to cope with the incurable high signaling overhead. The situation may become worse when the RIS with a large number of passive reflecting elements is deployed. To overcome this challenge, we investigate in this paper a robust transmission scheme for the time-varying RIS-aided mmWave vehicular communications, in which, s…

Optimal Relays Deployment for 802.16j Networks

2012

In this paper, we consider optimal relay station deployment for the IEEE 802.16j networks. IEEE 802.16j is an emerging wireless broadband networking standard that integrates infrastructure base stations with multihop relay technology. The proposed relay deployment mechanism allows us to maximize network capacity for every user or to maximize total network capacity, and, therefore, to reach greater network capacity values while employing smaller number of relay stations. With the proposed approach, the necessary number of relays for a region can be found.

Tiroidectomia totale o subtotale a confronto

1996

The surgical treatment of Basedow's disease is the most rapid and effective therapeutic approach to obtain the long-term remission of disease. Controversy persists regarding the choice of total or subtotal thyroidectomy. The authors report their experience in 38 cases of Basedow's disease undergoing surgery, of which 20 were treated with total thyroidectomy and 18 with subtotal thyroidectomy. No hemorrhages, wound infections, recurrent lesions, or definitive hypoparathyroidism were observed in the two groups of patients. Those patients undergoing subtotal thyroidectomy reported a 44.5% incidence of hypothyroidism. In particular, hypothyroidism was clinically manifest in 16.7% of cases and s…

2013 ECONOMY MOMENTUM CHALLENGES FOR NEXT 10 YEARS

2013

Last 5 years of almost unprecedented financial market turmoil it s still generating comprehensive crisis theories, market paradigms and nevertheless unprecedented situations. The aim of this paper is to explain 2013 milestone momentum for new market rules and regulations implementation - Basel III. The expected immediate cushion factors as well the possible negative impact on financial markets is presented from financial institutions perspective. Finally, the paper seeks for an exploratory after 10 years scenario connected with imminent market evolution and tendencies.
