This study aimed to characterise pressurised hot water (PHW) extracts from nonconventional sources of functional carbohydrates and phenolic compounds in terms of antioxidant capacity, antiviral activity, toxicity, and human erythrocytes’ protection antidiabetic potential. PHW extracts of Norway spruce bark (E1 + E2) and Birch sawdust (E3 + E4) contained mostly galactoglucomannan and glucuronoxylan. In contrast, samples E5 to E9 PHW extracted from Norway spruce, and Scots pine bark are rich sources of phenolic compounds. Recent content-based image retrieval systems offer an interactive visual browsing of images databases. These methods perform a classification of images (offline) into a search tree for users browsing (online). Towards a Real-time Mitigation of High Temperature while Drilling using a Multi-agent System

International audience; In oilfield wells, while drilling for several kilometers below surface, high temperature damages the drilling tools. This costs money and time for tripping operations to change the damaged tool. Existing temperature mitigation techniques have several drawbacks including a long response time, analogue signal issues and human intervention. In this work, we empower the down-hole tools with a coordination mechanism to mitigate high temperature in soft real time by controlling a down-hole actuator through a voting process. The additional cohesion exercised by vegetation roots (cr) provides an important contribution to the slope stability. This study proposes a methodology for estimating the cr term in a hillslope landslide analysis within a coupled ecohydrological-stability model. The coupled model simulates the spatial distribution and temporal dynamics of the Factor of Safety (FS) as a function of soil moisture dynamics, by taking into account the hydrological effects of vegetation through the root water uptaking. This study provides the first insights of a methodology for estimating the additional cohesion exercised by vegetation roots in a hillslope landslide analysis within a coupled ecohydrological-stability model. The existing coupled system is able to simulate the spatial distribution and temporal dynamics of Factor of Safety (FS) as a function of soil moisture dynamics. Artikkelissa tarkastellaan lukiolaisten historiallista päättelyä tutkivan historian oppimisen viikolla tuotettujen tekstien kautta. Viikon aikana opiskelijat selvittivät ratkaisematonta historiallista tapahtumaa juhannukselta 1957. Tuolloin tasavallan presidentin kesäasuntoa kohti ammuttiin laukauksia, joiden tehtävä oli joko pelotella tai murhata presidentti Urho Kekkonen. Kurssille osallistui 24 opiskelijaa, jotka toimivat seitsemässä ryhmässä analysoiden primääri- ja sekundäärilähteitä ja muodostaen näkemystään Kultarannan tapahtumiin.
