An Ambient Intelligence System for Assisted Living

2017

Nowadays, the population's average age is constantly increasing, and thus the need for specialized home assistance is on the rise. Smart homes especially tailored to meet elderly and disabled people's needs can help them maintaining their autonomy, whilst ensuring their safety and well-being. This paper proposes a complete context-aware system for Ambient Assisted Living (AAL), which infers user's actions and context, analyzing its past and current behavior to detect anomalies and prevent possible emergencies. The proposed system exploits Dynamic Bayesian Networks to merge raw data coming from heterogeneous sensors and infer user's behavior and health conditions. A rule-based reasoner is ab…

Luokittelumenetelmän evaluointimenetelmien vertailu pienten aineistojen tapauksessa simulointikokein

2016

Luokitteluanalyysin tyypillinen ongelma on mallin valinta ja/tai muuttujien eli piirteiden valinta. Tavoitteena on estimoida luotettavasti luokitteluvirheen todennäköisyys opetusaineiston avulla - ideaalissa tilanteessa käyttäen riippumatonta testiaineistoa. Tällöin saadaan estimaatti yleistämisvirheelle, joka kuvaa opetusaineistosta estimoidun mallin kykyä ennustaa riippumatonta testiaineistoa. Usein kuitenkin aineiston niukkuudesta johtuen ei voida käyttää erillistä riippumatonta testiaineistoa, jolloin ei myöskään voida estimoida suoraan yleistämisvirhettä. Tällöin voidaan kuitenkin käyttää otoksen uudelleenkäyttömenetelmiä, joista käytetyimmät lienevät ristiinvalidointi ja bootstrap. Me…

Ciclos pelíticos de bahía Interdistributaria del nivel intramareal inferior del grupo Roda-Oroel (sector occidental del paleodelta de Ager, Lérida)

1984

The deposits of the ancient Ager deltaic system (Lérida, Spain) are characterized in some way by the existence of cycles constituted, in a large scale, by alternances of pelites and sandstone bodies. According to geological literature these deposits represent bay marls and stream-mouth-bars, in the eastern-most counterpart. In this area sorne pelitic sections show a pronounced cyclical pattern devoid to repetitions of two terms: A marly bioturbated one, and the other one, constituted by undisturbed delicately laminated clays. Part of the deposits of the "Intramarea1 Inferior" level (''Tramo Superior" of the Roda-Oroel depositional system) in the area comprised between La Régola cementery an…

INQUINAMENTO INDOOR DA RADON. UNA APPLICAZIONE DELLE RETI BAYESIANE A SUPPORTO DELLA DIAGNOSI

2010

On using novel “Anti-Bayesian” techniques for the classification of dynamical data streams

2017

The classification of dynamical data streams is among the most complex problems encountered in classification. This is, firstly, because the distribution of the data streams is non-stationary, and it changes without any prior “warning”. Secondly, the manner in which it changes is also unknown. Thirdly, and more interestingly, the model operates with the assumption that the correct classes of previously-classified patterns become available at a juncture after their appearance. This paper pioneers the use of unreported novel schemes that can classify such dynamical data streams by invoking the recently-introduced “Anti-Bayesian” (AB) techniques. Contrary to the Bayesian paradigm, that compare…

Two-Qubit Pure Entanglement as Optimal Social Welfare Resource in Bayesian Game

2017

Entanglement is of paramount importance in quantum information theory. Its supremacy over classical correlations has been demonstrated in numerous information theoretic protocols. Here we study possible adequacy of quantum entanglement in Bayesian game theory, particularly in social welfare solution (SWS), a strategy which the players follow to maximize the sum of their payoffs. Given a multi-partite quantum state as an advice, players can come up with several correlated strategies by performing local measurements on their parts of the quantum state. A quantum strategy is called quantum-SWS if it is advantageous over a classical equilibrium (CE) strategy in the sense that none of the player…

Determination of the form factors for the decayB0→D*−l+νland of the CKM matrix element|Vcb|

2008

We present a combined measurement of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element vertical bar V-cb vertical bar and of the parameters rho(2), R-1(1), and R-2(1), which fully characterize the form factors for the B-0 -> D*(-)center dot(+)nu(center dot) decay in the framework of heavy-quark effective field theory. The results, based on a selected sample of about 52 800 B-0 -> D*(-)center dot(+)nu(center dot) decays, recorded by the BABAR detector, are rho(2)=1.157 +/- 0.094 +/- 0.027, R-1(1)=1.327 +/- 0.131 +/- 0.043, R-2(1)=0.859 +/- 0.077 +/- 0.021, and F(1)vertical bar V-cb vertical bar=(34.7 +/- 0.4 +/- 1.0)x10(-3). The first error is the statistical and the second is the systematic unce…

Mass Hierarchy, Mixing, CP-Violation and Higgs Decay---or Why Rotation is Good for Us

2011

The idea of a rank-one rotating mass matrix (R2M2) is reviewed detailing how it leads to ready explanations both for the fermion mass hierarchy and for the distinctive mixing patterns between up and down fermion states, which can be and have been tested against experiment and shown to be fully consistent with existing data. Further, R2M2 is seen to offer, as by-products: (i) a new solution of the strong CP problem in QCD by linking the theta-angle there to the Kobayashi-Maskawa CP-violating phase in the CKM matrix, and (ii) some novel predictions of possible anomalies in Higgs decay observable in principle at the LHC. A special effort is made to answer some questions raised.

Comprehensive measurements oft-channel single top-quark production cross sections ats=7  TeVwith the ATLAS detector

2014

This article presents measurements of the t-channel single top-quark ((t) over bart) and top-antiquark (_ t) total production cross sections sdtq_ and sd _ tq_, their ratio Rt sdtq_= sd _ tq_, and a measurement of the inclusive production cross section sdtq _ _ tq_ in proton-proton collisions at ffiffiffi ps = 7 TeV at the LHC. Differential cross sections for the tq and _ tq processes are measured as a function of the transverse momentum and the absolute value of the rapidity of t and _ t, respectively. The analyzed data set was recorded with the ATLAS detector and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 4.59 fb-1. Selected events contain one charged lepton, large missing transverse mome…
