Computational procedures for plastic shakedown design of structures
2004
The minimum volume design problem of elastic perfectly plastic finite element structures subjected to a combination of fixed and perfect cyclic loads is studied. The design problem is formulated in such a way that incremental collapse is certainly prevented. The search for the structural design with the required limit behaviour is effected following two different formulations, both developed on the grounds of a statical approach: the first one operates below the elastic shakedown limit and is able to provide a suboptimal design; the second one operates above the elastic shakedown limit and is able to provide the/an optimal design. The Kuhn–Tucker conditions of the two problems provide usefu…
Elektorālās uzvedības salīdzinājums starp krievvalodīgajiem iedzīvotājiem Latvijā un Igaunijā
2015
Analysis of selected variables on the severity of health behaviors of patients hospitalized in Emergency Department (ED)
2019
Introduction. Patients of emergency departments, in comparison to the general population, present a higher level of anti-health behavior. Poor health behaviors are strongly associated with greater risk of long stay, emergency admissions and greater use of hospital resources. The aim of the study. The aim of the study was to determine: sociodemographic and health profile and level of intensity of health behaviors of ED patients depending on sociodemographic variables and the occurrence of chronic diseases. Materials and Methods. 150 patients of ED in Kędzierzyn-Koźle were studied. The method of a diagnostic survey, a survey technique using the Health Behavior Inventory and authors’ own surve…
Data from: Maintenance costs of male dominance and sexually antagonistic selection in the wild
2019
1. Variation in dominance status determines male mating and reproductive success, but natural selection for male dominance can be detrimental or antagonistic for female performance, and ultimately their fitness. Attaining and maintaining a high dominance status in a population of competing individuals is physiologically costly for males. But how male dominance status is mediated by maintenance energetics is currently not well understood, nor are the correlational effects of male energetics on his sisters recognized. 2. We conducted laboratory and field experiments on rodent populations to test whether selective breeding for male dominance status (dominant vs. subordinate breeding lines) ant…

La politisation de l'ordinaire : Enjeux et limites de la mobilisation numérique
2015
This article examines the politicization processes of ordinary digital practices as well as its role in the constitution of new protester groups. Its interest is also represented by the construction of an original theoretical framework aiming to underline the complementarity between different theoretical perspectives. By encouraging a connection between the sociology of social movements, the critical Theory and the studies of “information practices”, the author elaborates a new approach to mobilisation focused on the emergence of a more and more citizen's engaged position with regard to the “information world” and not only based on militant uses of the media. While claiming a critical appro…
Consumers’ Willingness to Pay for Agri-Food Products Delivered with Electric Vehicles in the Short Supply Chains
2022
This study aims at investigating the consumers’ willingness to pay (WTP) for agri-food products delivered in the farmers markets with electric vehicles (EVs). The empirical analysis has been carried out by administering an online questionnaire to 273 consumers within a hypothetical context. A multiple price list has been provided in order to measure the price premium for 1 kg of oranges transported by EVs comparing with the ones transported by traditional vehicles. A Tobit regression model has been used for the data analysis in order to identify the most influential factors affecting the consumers’ WTP. Results suggest that consumers’ WTP is mainly influenced by environmental attitudes, kn…

Data from Estrogenic Regulation of Muscle Apoptosis (ERMA) study
2022
The multidisciplinary Estrogenic Regulation of Muscle Apoptosis (ERMA) study was designed to reveal how hormonal differences over the menopausal stages affect the physiological and psychological functioning of middle-aged women. In addition, health behaviour (e.g., physical activity and eating behaviour) and blood-based biomarkers are investigated. Biomarker data includes different omics datasets (e.g. metabolomics, genomics, transcriptomics). The complete data set includes baseline data collection and two different follow-ups. The baseline ERMA study (=parent data) is a population-based cohort study, which forms a parent data set for the follow-up studies (ERMA follow-up and EsmiRs). Data …
