Selective regional distribution of tubulin induced in cerebrum by hyperammonemia

1989

Ingestion of ammonium induces hyperammonemia which increases tubulin content in cerebrum but not in cerebellum. We have dissected 11 discrete areas of cerebrum and quantified the tubulin content in control and hyperammonemic rats. An heterogeneity in the induction of tubulin is shown. The areas more affected are ventral hippocampus, dorsal hippocampus, hypothalamus, septum, reticular formation and frontal cortex, in which tubulin content increased by 63%, 27%, 32%, 48%, 45%, and 25%, respectively, after two months of feeding the ammonium diet.

[Armcrank pedaling in persons with…

2016

Two new sesquiterpene derivatives from the Tunisian endemic Ferula tunetana Pom.

2010

A new sesquiterpene ester, tunetanin A (1), a new sesquiterpene coumarin, tunetacoumarin A (2), together with eight known compounds, i.e., coladin (3), coladonin (4), isosmarcandin (5), 13-hydroxyfeselol (6), umbelliprenin (7) propiophenone (8), beta-sitosterol (9), and stigmasterol (10), were isolated from the roots of Ferula tunetana. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic methods, including 1D- and 2D-NMR experiments and MS analysis, as well as by comparison with published data. The cytotoxicity of compounds 1-7 towards two human colon cancer cell lines, HT-29 and HCT 116, was evaluated. Compounds 3, 4, and 6 showed weak cytotoxic activities.

Monotone Concave Operators: An application to the existence and uniqueness of solutions to the Bellman equation

2008

We propose a new approach to the issue of existence and uniqueness of solutions to the Bellman equation, exploiting an emerging class of methods, called monotone map methods, pioneered in the work of Krasnosel’skii (1964) and Krasnosel’skii-Zabreiko (1984). The approach is technically simple and intuitive. It is derived from geometric ideas related to the study of fixed points for monotone concave operators defined on partially order spaces.

A comparative analysis to study editing of small noncoding BC200- and Alu transcripts in brain of prion-inoculated rhesus monkeys (M. Mulatta).

2012

Small retroelements (short interspersed elements, abbreviated SINEs) are abundant in vertebrate genomes. Using RNA isolated from rhesus monkey cerebellum and buffy coat, reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT PCR) was applied to clone cDNA of BC200 and Alu RNAs. Transcripts containing Alu-SINE sequences may be subjected to extensive RNA editing by ADAR (adenosine deaminases that act on RNA) deamination. Abundance of Alu transcripts was determined with real-time RT PCR and was significantly higher than BC200 (brain cytoplasmic) in cerebellum. BC200 transcripts were absent from buffy coat cells. Availability of the rhesus genome sequence allowed the BC200 transcripts to be mapped…

La trahison au Moyen Âge

2009

Involvement of the long arm of chromosome 9 in medulloblastoma in an adult.

1997

Abstract Medulloblastoma is the most common primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) in children, but is very rare in adults. An isochromosome for the long arms of 17, i(17q), is found in about 30% of pediatric cases. Cytogenetic studies in adults are very scarce; only six cases have been described cytogenetically: three cases had normal karyotype, two were studied partially, and another presented only two clonal structural anomalies: del(9)(q12) and del(11)(q22). We studied the chromosomes from medulloblastoma in a 27-year-old woman and found one hypotetraploid stemline with clonal alterations. In the structural anomalies, chromosomes 3, 9, 12, and i(17q) were involved. Chromosome 9 presente…
