Background Anti-IL-5 antibodies represent an established therapy for severe eosinophilic asthma (SEA), but some patients show inadequate response. The objective of this study was to assess the effects of a switch to anti-IL-5Rα therapy in patients with inadequate response to anti-IL-5 therapy. Benralizumab Effectiveness in Severe Eosinophilic Asthma with and without Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps: A Real-World Multicenter Study

Background: Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) affects around 60% of patients with severe eosinophilic asthma (SEA). Benralizumab was recently approved for SEA add-on treatment. Real-life effectiveness of anti-IL-5(-receptor) antibody treatment in patients with severe eosinophilic asthma

In patients with uncontrolled, severe eosinophilic asthma treatment with anti-IL-5(-receptor) (anti-IL5(R)) antibodies is a promising therapeutic approach. Results of clinical trials demonstrate a very good effectiveness and safety profile of these drugs. However, there is limited data on real-life effectiveness because the drugs have been approved for just a few years.
