Lipid-Altering Efficacy of Ezetimibe/Simvastatin 10/20 mg Compared to Rosuvastatin 10 mg in High-Risk Patients with and without Type 2 Diabetes Melli…

2010

AIMS: This post hoc analysis compared the effects of switching to ezetimibe/simvastatin 10/20 mg (EZE/SIMVA) or rosuvastatin 10 mg (ROSUVA) in uncontrolled high-risk hypercholesterolemic patients with/without type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) despite statin monotherapy. METHODS: Patients (n = 618) at high risk for coronary vascular disease with elevated LDL-C ≥100 and ≤190 mg/dL despite use of statins were randomized 1:1 to double-blind EZE/SIMVA 10/20 mg or ROSUVA 10 mg for 6 weeks. Patients were classified as having T2DM based on ≥1 of the following: diagnosis of T2DM, antidiabetic medication, or FPG ≥126 mg/dL. This analysis evaluated percent changes from baseline in lipids among patients …

Photoredox-catalyzed synthesis of N-unsubstituted enaminosulfones from vinyl azides and sulfinates

2021

Abstract A metal-free visible light photoredox-catalyzed synthesis of N-unsubstituted enaminosulfones from vinyl azides and sodium sulfinates in moderate to high yields is described. The reaction proceeds in ethanol and uses eosin Y as a readily available photocatalyst in combination with nitrobenzene as an electron shuttle. Taking into account the number of steps involved (generation of the sulfonyl radical, its addition to the double bond, elimination of molecular nitrogen with formation of an iminyl radical, followed by its reduction and protonation) as well as the number of redox-active reaction partners involved, the selectivity of the process is quite impressive.

A contribution to the preparation of phenolic polynuclear compounds with sulfonyl bridges

1964

For the preparation of phenolic di- and tricyclic compounds with sulfonyl bridges the Fries rearrangement is suitable, and for the corresponding products with three and four benzene rings the Friedel-Crafts reaction may be used. The exchange of sulfonyl bridges for methylene bridges produces a marked increase in the melting point.

Crystal structures of three ortho-substituted N-acylhydrazone derivatives

2017

To explore the effect of the nature of substitutions on the structural parameters and hydrogen-bond interactions inN-acylhydrazone derivatives, the crystal structures of threeortho-substitutedN-acylhydrazone derivatives, namely (E)-N-{2-[2-(2-chlorobenzylidene)hydrazinyl]-2-oxoethyl}-4-methylbenzenesulfonamide, C16H16ClN3O3S (I), (E)-N-{2-[2-(2-methylbenzylidene)hydrazinyl]-2-oxoethyl}-4-methylbenzenesulfonamide, C17H19N3O3S (II), and (E)-N-{2-[2-(2-nitrobenzylidene)hydrazinyl]-2-oxoethyl}-4-methylbenzenesulfonamide, C16H16N4O5S (III), have been determined. The structures of the three compounds display similar molecular conformations and hydrogen-bond patterns. The hydrazone part of the mol…

Bis(2,2'-biphenoxy)borates for electrochemical double-layer capacitor electrolytes.

2010

Fluorine makes the difference! Bis(2,2'-biphenoxy)borates decorated with fluorine substituents have been synthesized and studied in supercapacitor test cells (see scheme). A clear trend towards higher electrochemical stability with the increase of the fluorine content has been observed. For a maximum performance, only two fluorine substituents per benzene moiety are required.

Structure of nanoporous carbon materials for supercapacitors

2012

Activated carbons with highly developed porous structure and nanosized pores (8 - 11 A) were prepared from alder wood using thermochemical activation method with sodium hydroxide. Properties of the obtained activated carbons were examined by benzene and nitrogen sorption, X-Ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. Tests of activated carbons as electrodes in supercapacitors were performed as well. It was found that specific surface area of above mentioned activated carbons was 1800 m 2 /g (Dubinin - Radushkevich). Raman spectroscopy demonstrated the presence of ordered and disordered structures of graphite origin. The performance of activated carbons as electrodes in supercapacitors have show…

Photocontrolled On-Surface Pseudorotaxane Formation with Well-Ordered Macrocycle Multilayers.

2016

The photoinduced pseudorotaxane formation between a photoresponsive axle and a tetralactam macrocycle was investigated in solution and on glass surfaces with immobilized multilayers of macrocycles. In the course of this reaction, a novel photoswitchable binding station with azobenzene as the photoswitchable unit and diketopiperazine as the binding station was synthesized and studied by NMR and UV/Vis spectroscopy. Glass surfaces have been functionalized with pyridine-terminated SAMs and subsequently with multilayers of macrocycles through layer-by-layer self assembly. A preferred orientation of the macrocycles could be confirmed by NEXAFS spectroscopy. The photocontrolled deposition of the …

Crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-{[5-(4-chlorophenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl]sulfanyl}ethanone

2017

The title heterocyclic compound is contains an oxadizole and two chloro-substituted phenyl rings. In the crystal, C—H⋯N hydrogen bonding links the molecules into undulating ribbons parallel to the b axis. Hirshfeld surface analysis indicates that the most important contributions for the crystal packing are the H⋯C (18%), H⋯H (17%), H⋯Cl (16.6%), H⋯O (10.4%), H⋯N (8.9%) and H⋯S (5.9%) interactions.

TCR V alpha chain expression influences reactivity to the hapten TNP.

1997

We have recently demonstrated a remarkable selection of in vitro cultivated, TNP-specific polyclonal T cell lines for the expression of a TCR beta chain encoded by the V beta 8.2 gene. The goal of the present study was to analyse V alpha usage in V beta 8.2 T cells responsive to TNP, using TNP-specific T cell lines derived from three common strains of mice, as well as from V beta 8.2 transgenic mice. Results indicate that in vitro TNP stimulation of T cells from TNP-immune mice results in significant skewing of V alpha usage among responding V beta 8.2+ T cells, with overexpression observed for V alpha 3.2 and V alpha 8. These results indicate that V alpha expression influences recognition …

Shared determinants between virus-infected and trinitrophenyl-conjugated H-2-identical target cells detected in cell-mediated lympholysis

1976

Infection of H-2-identical mice with either lymphocytic choriomeningitis (LCM) virus, vaccinia virus, or paramyxo (Sendai) virus resulted in the generation of specifically sensitized cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL). CTL generated in vitro against 2,4,6-trinitrophenyl (TNP)-conjugated syngeneic stimulator cells were specifically cytotoxic for TNP-conjugated H-2K (D) region identical targets. Both LCM and vaccinia-induced CTL, however, were found to be strongly cytotoxic towards TNP-conjugated, H-2K(D) region-identical target cells. In contrast, Sendai virus-induced CTL did not lyse TNP-conjugated, syngeneic target cells. Inhibition experiments using cold targets suggested that shared antigenic…
