The IFN-γ-Inducible GTPase, Irga6, Protects Mice against Toxoplasma gondii but Not against Plasmodium berghei and Some Other Intracellular Pathogens

Clearance of infection with intracellular pathogens in mice involves interferon-regulated GTPases of the IRG protein family. Experiments with mice genetically deficient in members of this family such as Irgm1(LRG-47), Irgm3(IGTP), and Irgd(IRG-47) has revealed a critical role in microbial clearance, especially for Toxoplasma gondii. The in vivo role of another member of this family, Irga6 (IIGP, IIGP1) has been studied in less detail. Oligopols spēļu teorijas kontekstā

Bakalaura darba tēma “Oligopols spēļu teorijas kontekstā” izvēlēta, lai gūtu ieskatu oligopola jēdzienā no spēļu teorijas puses. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir Kurno, Bertrana un Štakelberga oligopola modeļu izpēte un salīdzināšana no spēļu teorijas konteksta puses. Darbā tiek aplūkots Kurno modeļa vispārīgais gadījums ar n ražotājiem, kā arī duopols. Kā arī tiek apskatīti Bertrana un Štakelberga duopola modeļi. Darba autors ir iekļāvis arī duopola modeļu piemērus un veicis rezultātu salīdzināšanu. Lai labāk izprastu modeļu veidošanos un piemērus, tiek apskatīts arī spēļu teorija jēdziens.

Alternating antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic exchange interactions in the S = 1 Heisenberg chain. Theory and magnetic properties

Abstract We focus on the magnetic properties of the S = 1 Heisenberg chain with alternating antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic exchange interactions J 1 and J 2 . The magnetic behavior of this system is calculated as a function of the alternation parameter α = J 2 /| J 1 |, from a general numerical procedure based on closed spin chains of increasing length. These theoretical results are fitted to rational unified expressions, which are subsequently used to describe the magnetic behavior of a nickel (II) complex, [Ni(bipy)(N 3 ) 2 ] n , exhibiting an alternating chain structure with a dominant ferromagnetic exchange.

The aim of this paper is to study critically, with the help of Habermas´s moral theory, the current naturalistic approach to morality —which is based on both the evolutionary theory and neuroscience—. In doing so it will be explained the specifically moral use of practical reason, as Habermas propose; it will be compared this moral use with Kohlberg's postconventional stage of moral development; and it will be claimed that naturalistic approach cannot explain this stage, that can be understood as specific justice area.

RILIS-ionized mercury and tellurium beams at ISOLDE CERN

This paper presents the results of ionization scheme development for application at the ISOLDE Resonance Ionization Laser Ion Source (RILIS). Two new ionization schemes for mercury are presented: a three-step three-resonance ionization scheme, ionizing via an excitation to a Rydberg level and a three-step two-resonance ionization scheme, with a non-resonant final step to the ionization continuum that corresponded to a factor of four higher ionization efficiency. The efficiency of the optimal mercury ionization scheme was measured, together with the efficiency of a new three-step three resonance ionization scheme for tellurium.
