Kora brzozy brodawkowatej jako biomonitor zanieczyszczenia powietrza metalami ciężkimi

2018

A survey of recent results in passive sampling of water and air by semipermeable membrane devices

1995

Abstract A survey is presented of some recent results for passive sampling of water and air for trace organic contaminants using lipid-filled semipermeable membrane devices (SPMDs). Results of water sampling for trace organochlorine compounds using simultaneously exposed SPMDs and the most universally applied biomonitor (bivalves) are discussed. In general, the total amounts of accumulated analytes available for analysis in bivalves and SPMDs were comparable. However, SPMD controls typically had negligible levels of contamination, which was not always the case for transplanted bivalves, even after prolonged depuration prior to exposure. In surveys of the spatial trends of organochlorines at…

Cardiovascular, ventilatory and haematological responses of brown trout (Salmo trutta L.), to the combined effects of acidity and aluminium in humic …

1995

Two year old brown trout (Salmo trutta L.) were exposed for 7 days to pH 4.7 alone and with aluminium at concentrations of 0.28 and 0.45 mg l−1, respectively, in the water of River Rutajoki, Central Finland. The labile aluminium accounted for less than 30% of the total added amount in the humic water. During the exposures the fish were monitored by a non-contact bioelectronic monitoring system which records heart and ventilation rates of the fish. Terminal blood samples were obtained to evaluate the degree of stress. No mortality occurred during any of the exposures. Acid stress alone and with aluminium caused an immediate acute response in heart and ventilation rates, which remained higher…

Dzīvsudraba piesārņojums pelēkā roņa Halichoerus grypus audos Rīgas jūras līcī

2021

2016

Celem przeprowadzonych badań była ocena poziomu zanieczyszczenia wybranymi metalami ciężkimi: Zn, Ni, Cd i Pb terenów leśnych gminy Twardogóra. Miasto Twardogóra położone jest w północno-wschodniej części województwa dolnośląskiego, lasy stanowią 44% całej powierzchni gminy. Porosty Hypogymnia physodes oraz mchy Pleurozium schreberi pobrane zostały z 32 miejsc zlokalizowanych w pobliżu wsi Gola, Goszcz, Grabowno Wielkie oraz Sosnówka. Wybrane metale ciężkie (Ni, Zn, Cd i Pb) oznaczono metodą absorpcyjnej spektroskopii atomowej. Wyniki badań zinterpretowano, wykorzystując m.in. współczynnik porównawczy CF, będący różnicą w stężeniach analitu zakumulowanego w porostach i w mchach, odniesioną …

Environmental impact of Mt. Etna’s degassing: volcanogenic trace elements bioaccumulation in two endemic plant species (Senecio aethnensis and Rumex …

2010

A biomonitoring survey, above tree line level, using two endemic species (Senecio aethnensis and Rumex aethnensis)was performed on Mt. Etna, in order to evaluate the dispersion and the impact of volcanic atmospheric emissions. Samples of leaves were collected in summer 2008 from 30 sites in the upper part of the volcano (1500-3000 m a.s.l). Acid digestion of samples was carried out with a microwave oven, and 44 elements were analyzed by using plasma spectrometry (ICP-MS and ICP-OES). The highest concentrations of all investigated elements were found in the samples collected closest to the degassing craters, and in the downwind sector, confirming that the eastern flank of Mt. Etna is the mos…

Application of the moss bag biomonitoring technique in an active volcanic environment (Mt. Etna, Italy).

2011

This paper presents the preliminary results of a biomonitoring study based on the use of moss bags exposed at 24 sites on Etna volcano. Sphagnum mosses were used to study bioaccumulation originating from atmospheric deposition, by measuring the tissue contents of major and a large suite of trace elements. Elements, such as Tl, Bi, As, Se, Cu and Cd, display high concentrations in the exposed samples close to the active vents. This study confirms the effectiveness of the moss bags technique also in active volcanic areas.

The results of a biomonitoring surveys carried on in Palermo using the accumulation of heavy metals in lichens, thalli of Xanthoria s.l. as indicators of air pollution are reported in this work. Beginning from the data of 38 simple sites shed on Palermo’s territory, has been developed a study of the air pollution in the centre of the town, the target of this work is to know the existing relationship between the concentration of heavy metals study area and the possible pollution sources as industry, shipyards, vehicles etc. In order to recuperate most information of the territory, the development of this work has been carried on with a new technology for the data management: the GIS (Geograp…
