2013
This contribution examines the article ?Stefan Nemanjic i njegov brat Sava u spisima Dimitrija Homatina? by Vlada Stankovic (2012) critically. On the basis of Chomatenos files (nos. 1, 3, 10, 13 and 86), he tried to obtain new details about in what way and with what results political and ecclesiastical communication between Epiros and Serbia took place in the period 1215-1219/20. In the course of this, as this present study shows, he repeatedly reached rash, questionable or untenable conclusions. Also the question raised by him - with a critical intention - about the name of Stefan Nemanjic?s daughter is now once again discussed and finally decided in such a way as this was already done in …
I vescovati nella Sicilia normanna (secc. XI-XIII). Potestà normative e competenze giurisdizionali in un territorio multiculturale
2022

2022
The aim of this work is to examine the sources relating to the legalinstitutional relations between the Papacy and the bishoprics of the island of Sicily, between the 11th and 12th centuries. The investigation aims to verify in what ways, and according to what forms, each pope directed his action to get in touch with the bishops in charge of the different ecclesiastical sees. On the other hand, it is also intended to examine whether the Sicilian bishops themselves attempted in some way to accredit their action towards the Apostolic See. The two poles evoked in the title – the Sicilian Monarchy and the Church of Rome – represent respectively the two highest authorities for the Churches of th…

2021
The author examines the solidity of royal patronage in Sicily and proposes to revise the usual observation of a balance between Sicilians and Spanish in the appointments to bishoprics under Charles II. His thorough examination of these appointments, taking into account the naturalization of foreigners, shows the extent of the monarch’s power over the Sicilian Church. The intangibility of the force of royal patronage in Sicily is comparable, indeed, to that in Spanish America and did not decline under Charles II. Actually, it did not falter until the early Eighteenth century, on the occasion of the War of the Spanish succession L’auteur examine la solidité du patronage royal en Sicile et pro…
