A new improved synthesis of the 110 K bismuth superconducting phase: freeze-drying of acetic solutions

1992

Abstract Metastability has greatly hindered the separated synthesis of the high-temperature superconducting phases represented as (Bi1−x, Pbx)2Sr2Can−1CunO4 + 2n (n = 2, 2-2-1-2, Tc≈80 K, and n = 3, 2-2-2-3, Tc≈110 K). By careful control of the synthetic variables, it becomes possible to obtain the 110 K phase as the only superconducting one through processing of freeze-dried acetic solutions. This technique leads to homogeneously sized (5–10 μm) micaceous platelets of the superconducting material.

TRIARYL-ARSINE, -STIBENE UND -BISMUTHINE MIT -OR, -NR2-UND -CHR-NMe2-GRUPPEN IN ORTHO-STELLUNG

1983

Abstract Ortho-lithiated alkyl-arylethers, N,N-dialkylarylamines and substituted N,N-dimethylbenzylamines prepared according reaction (1) are reacted with the halides of arsine, antimony and bismuth forming the expected triarylarsines, triarylstibines and triarylbismuthines. By double lithiation the bis-arsine 37 is obtained.

Phase transitions and distortion of [BiCl6]3– octahedra in (C3H5NH3)3[BiCl6] – DSC and single-crystal X-Ray diffraction studies

2004

The DSC diagram of tris(allylammonium) hexachlorobismuthate(III), (C3H5NH3)3[BiCl6], revealed three anomalies at 152, 191 and 299 K. The structure of the salt was determined at 200 and 315 K, below and above the high-temperature phase transition at 299 K. In both phases the crystals are monoclinic. At 200 K the space group is C2/c whereas at 315 K it is C2/m. The structures, at both temperatures, are composed of [BiCl6]3− octahedra and allylammonium cations. The organic and inorganic moieties are attracted to each other by a network of the N-H. . .Cl hydrogen bonds. The relationship between corresponding parameters of the unit cells has been found. The phase transition at 299 K, of the orde…

Heat capacity and thermal conductivity of multiferroics Bi1-xPrxFeO3

2019

The heat capacity and thermal conductivity of multiferroics Bi1–xPrxFeO3 (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.50) has been studied in the temperature range of 130–800 K. A slight substitution of praseodymium for bismuth is found to lead to a noticeable shift of the antiferromagnetic phase transition temperature whilst the heat capacity increases. The temperature dependences of the heat capacity and thermal conductivity exhibit additional anomalies during phase transitions. The experimental results suggest that the excess heat capacity can be attributed to the Schottky effect for three-level states. The basic mechanisms of the heat transfer of phonons are highlighted and the dependence of the mean free path on temper…

Detailed spectroscopy of 195Bi

2017

An experiment focused on the study of shape coexistence and new high-spin structures in 195 Bi has been performed. The nucleus is in a transitional region of the bismuth isotope chain. A large number of new states have been found, resulting in a significant extension of the previously known level scheme. Several new collective structures have been identified. A strongly coupled rotational band built upon the 13 / 2 + isomeric state was extended up to I π = ( 49 / 2 + ) and an energy of 5706 keV. The I π = 31 / 2 + member of the π i 13 / 2 band was also found to feed a new long-lived isomeric state with an excitation energy of 2616 keV and a spin and parity of I π = 29 / 2 + . The half-life …

Comparison of the impact of Helicobacter pylori eradication treatment with bismuth and non-bismuth quadruple regimens on the gut microbiota

2019

Background: Helicobacter pylori eradication requires a combination of antibiotics. The short and long-term effect of different H. pylori eradication regimens on the gut microbiota has received little attention. Aims: To evaluate and compare the impact of the two most frequently recommended first-line H. pylori eradication regimens — bismuth and non-bismuth quadruple regimens — on the gut microbiota. Patients and Methods: Two 14-day quadruple treatments were evaluated and compared: bismuth-based quadruple therapy (proton pump inhibitor, bismuth, tetracycline, and metronidazole) and non-bismuth quadruple “concomitant” therapy (proton pump inhibitor, amoxicillin, clarithromycin and metronidazo…

Helicobacter pylori first-line and rescue treatments in patients allergic to penicillin: Experience from the European Registry on H pylori management…

2020

Background Experience in Helicobacter pylori eradication treatment of patients allergic to penicillin is very scarce. A triple combination with a PPI, clarithromycin (C), and metronidazole (M) is often prescribed as the first option, although more recently the use of a quadruple therapy with PPI, bismuth (B), tetracycline (T), and M has been recommended. Aim To evaluate the efficacy and safety of first-line and rescue treatments in patients allergic to penicillin in the "European Registry of H pylori management" (Hp-EuReg). Methods A systematic prospective registry of the clinical practice of European gastroenterologists (27 countries, 300 investigators) on the management of H pylori infect…

The impact of antibiotic resistance on the efficacy of three 7-day regimens againstHelicobacter pylori

2000

Background: Antibiotic resistance affects the success of anti-Helicobacter pylori therapies and varies greatly from country to country. Aim: To compare the efficacy of three short-term triple regimens in relation to H. pylori primary resistance in our region. Methods: We enrolled 210 H. pylori-positive dyspeptic patients for this randomized, open, parallel-group study. Three arms of 70 patients each received the following 1-week regimens: (1) ranitidine bismuth citrate 400 mg b.d. + clarithromycin 250 mg b.d. + metronidazole 500 mg b.d. (RCM); (2) bismuth subcitrate 240 mg b.d. + amoxycillin 1000 mg b.d. + metronidazole 500 mg b.d. (BAM); (3) omeprazole 20 mg o.d. + clarithromycin 250 mg b.…
