Status of herbicide-resistant Lolium populations in wheat fields in Tunisia

2013

The evolution of herbicide resistance in weeds is a worldwide phenomenon in modern cropping systems. The presence of resistant populations can severely hamper herbicide-based weed control, thus leading to the need for a more accurate use of these products. In Tunisia, the first report of evolved herbicide resistance concerned Lolium rigidum populations collected in wheat fields in northern Tunisia in 1996 and found to be resistant to acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylase-inhibiting (ACCase) herbicides. The objective of this study is to detect and characterise herbicide resistance in ryegrass (Lolium spp). The sensitivity of nine ryegrass populations, collected in wheat fields in northern Tunisia, w…

Résistance aux inhibiteurs de l’ALS chez le séneçon commun (Senecio vulgaris) : la situation en vigne et en grandes cultures

2016

Resistance to ALS-inhibiting herbicides in common groundsel (Senecio vulgaris) : situation in franch vineyards and major field crops. Common groundsel (Senecio vulgaris) is a ubiquitous weed that is highly mobile and which seeds can germinate almost all year long. It also is the only weed species today in France that is officially acknowledged to have evolved a resistance to one same herbicide mode of action both in vineyards and major field crops. The purpose of this paper is to provide a picture of a few major aspects of this resistance: underlying mechanisms, detection, seed viability, spread and geographical extent of the resistance.

Leptocorticium gloeocystidiatum sp. nov. (Basidiomycota), a new corticioid fungus from Sicily, Italy

2014

A new corticioid species, Leptocorticium gloeocystidiatum is described from Sicily, Italy. It is characterized by a resupinate, buff-coloured basidiome and microscopically by the presence of filiform leptocystidia, gloeocystidia, dendrohyphidia, and small ellipsoid, smooth basidiospores, non-reacting in Melzer's reagent. The species is compared with closest relatives. A key to the accepted species of Leptocorticium is provided.

Ecology, environmental requirements and conservation of corticioid fungi occupying small diameter dead wood

2016

The increasing human impact upon the biosphere of earth is causing profound changes across all spatial scales. The ability to cope with human-induced disturbance varies among organisms; specialist species are more negatively affected than generalist species. Forests are among the most heavily affected ecosystems; especially the dead wood associated organisms are in peril. The earlier research has strongly focused on large diameter dead wood and associated species. The aim of this thesis was to investigate small diameter dead wood and collect systematic information about species richness and abundance as well as habitat and substrate preferences of associated corticioid fungi. Fungal data wa…

Pholiotina cyanopus, a rare fungus producing psychoactive tryptamines

2014

Abstract Pholiotina cyanopus was collected from wood chips and other woody remnants of undetermined tree species. Its basidiomata were found in June within the area of closed sawmill in the central part of Żywiec city (SW Poland). Description and illustration of Ph. cyanopus based on Polish specimens are provided and its ecology, general distribution and comparison with similar taxa – Pholiotina smithii, Pholiotina sulcatipes, and others are discussed as well. The identity of the active compounds of Ph. cyanopus was additionally determined. Liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS) data sets were obtained to support the occurrence of psilocybin and its analogues – psilocin, baeocystin…

Bilateral cyclic cheek lesions related to premenstrual syndrome: a multifactorial pathogenesis?

2009

Introduction Cheek biting is a chronic, usually innocuous, self-inXicted injury that often occurs as a parafunctional habit. Case report We report an unusual case of bilateral cyclic cheek lesions in a 34-year-old woman characterized by hyperkeratinization near the biting edges of the teeth and hematic lesions accompanied by a cheek swelling sensation, without pain and burning. The lesions coincided with a premenstrual syndrome, characterized by Xuid retention Introduction Cheek biting is a chronic, usually innocuous, self-inXicted injury that often occurs as a parafunctional habit. Pioniere. Abitare territori in contrazione

2022

Starting from the effort needed to name realities that have no clear definition, the contribution introduces the field research and project work developed during and after the "Laboratorio del Cammino", 2022. On this occasion, terr…

Dead wood profile of a semi-natural boreal forest – implications for sampling

2019

Dead wood profile of a forest is a useful tool for describing forest characteristics and assessing forest disturbance history. Nevertheless, there are few studies on dead wood profiles, including both coarse and fine dead wood, and on the effect of sampling intensity on the dead wood estimates. In a semi-natural boreal forest, we measured every dead wood item over 2 cm in diameter from 80 study plots. From eight plots, we further recorded dead wood items below 2 cm in diameter. Based on these data we constructed the full dead wood profile, i.e. the overall number of dead wood items and their distribution among different tree species, volumes of different size and decay stage categories. We …
