Per-flow signalling extension across DiffServ domains

2003

This paper describes a framework devised to extend per-flow admission control operation across Differentiated Services domains. Although the specific case of interoperability with RSVP is under discussion, our proposal can be easily adapted to other hop-by-hop signalling protocols. In our framework, DiffSery border routers accomplish three tasks. First, during the set-up phase, flows are mapped onto PHB groups on the basis of their QoS and traffic specifications. Second, signalling packets are tunnelled into IP packets marked as “probes”, where the “probe” marking is a DCSP value associated to the considered PHB Group. Third, when the flow set-up is complete, flow data packets are marked as…

Template-based synthesis of nickel oxide

2015

Nanocrystalline NiO has been produced using a facile template-based synthesis from nickel nitrate solutions using cellulose as a template. Thus obtained oxides were studied by scanning electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction, Raman scattering spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy and confocal spectromicroscopy. The filamentary/coral morphology of the samples has been evidenced and is built up of agglomerated nanocrystallites with a size in the range of about 26-36 nm. The presence of two-magnon contribution in Raman scattering spectra suggests the existence of antiferromagnetic ordering at room temperature. Finally, the observed near-infrared photoluminescence band at 850 nm has been …

Graphs of stable maps from closed surfaces to the projective plane

2018

Abstract We describe how to attach a weighted graph to each stable map from closed surfaces to projective plane and prove that any weighted graph with non negatively weighted vertices is the graph of some stable map from a closed surface to the projective plane.

A note on projective coordinate systems of modular lattices

1993

This note clarifies the combinatorial nature of projective coordinate systems of modular upper continuous lattices. It generalizes the classical relationship between 3-dimensional Desarguesian configurations and coordinate systems of projective 3-spaces.

On n–Fold Blocking Sets

1986

An n-fold blocking set is a set of n-disjoint blocking sets. We shall prove upper and lower bounds for the number of components in an n-fold blocking set in projective and affine spaces.

Analytical Performance and Validation of a Bioassay for Thyroid-Blocking Antibodies

2016

A cell-based bioassay for the measurement of thyroid blocking autoantibodies (TBAb) has been recently reported. The analytical performance and validation of this bioassay is assessed and described.Chinese hamster ovary cells expressing a chimeric thyrotropin receptor were treated with bovine (b) TSH and different concentrations of an immunoglobulin G (IgG) monoclonal human TBAb (K1-70). TBAb was measured as a function of luciferase activity relative to bTSH alone and expressed as percent inhibition. Results obtained in the chimeric cell line were compared with those of a wild-type cell line. Analytical performance studies were subsequently performed with the chimeric cell line only.Immunode…

A novel frequency reuse scheme for coordinated multi-point transmission

2010

A dynamic channel access strategy for underlay cognitive radio networks: Markov modelling and performance evaluation

2015

Unlike in overlay cognitive radio networks, secondary users in underlay cognitive radio networks can access licensed spectrum even at the presence of a primary user, given that the interference caused by the secondary transmission is lower than a pre-specified threshold. Based on this underlay access principle, we propose in this paper a dynamic channel access strategy for multi-channel cognitive radio networks. Different from existing underlay access techniques, channel assembling, spectrum adaptation and restricted channel occupancy are also considered in the proposed strategy in order to achieve better performance in the secondary network. Accordingly, a partial channel occupancy mode, w…

Sugammadex, a Neuromuscular Blockade Reversal Agent, Causes Neuronal Apoptosis in Primary Cultures

2013

Sugammadex, a γ-cyclodextrin that encapsulates selectively steroidal neuromuscular blocking agents, such as rocuronium or vecuronium, has changed the face of clinical neuromuscular pharmacology. Sugammadex allows a rapid reversal of muscle paralysis. Sugammadex appears to be safe and well tolerated. Its blood-brain barrier penetration is poor (< 3% in rats), and thus no relevant central nervous toxicity is expected. However the blood brain barrier permeability can be altered under different conditions (i.e. neurodegenerative diseases, trauma, ischemia, infections, or immature nervous system). Using MTT, confocal microscopy, caspase-3 activity, cholesterol quantification and Western-blot we …

The nickel-support interaction as determining factor of the selectivity to ethylene in the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane over nickel oxide/alum…

2021

[EN] Nickel oxides supported on gamma-alumina (Ni-loading from 5 to 30 wt% NiO) have been synthesized and tested in the oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of ethane in order to determine the importance of the NiO-support interaction. The best performance was achieved by the catalyst with 15 wt% NiO; higher NiO-loadings lead to the formation of unselective bulk-like NiO and lower Ni-loadings present high proportion of free alumina surface sites. The presence of oxalic acid and/or niobium in the synthesis gel resulted in the formation of NiO particles with similar size, but higher crystallinity and reducibility than the standard 15 wt% NiO catalyst. The obtained results have revealed that, in ad…
