Research on early medieval and medieval archaeoiogical and anthropological cemeteries is not the easiest. Archaeoiogical and anthropological research in Byczyna showed how valuable e data from cemetery research is, how much we can leam about the community living in medieval cities. Analyzing bone material at the preliminary stage of research, it can beseen that the health condition of the inhabitants of medieval Byczyna was not good. Almost half of the examined skeletons have traces of various diseases, especially degenerative diseases and injuries. There were also cases of conditions that indicate that the diet of the dead did not have basie nutrients.

A reappraisal of the purported gastric pellet with Pterosaurian bones from the Upper Triassic of Italy

A small accumulation of bones from the Norian (Upper Triassic) of the Seazza Brook Valley (Carnic Prealps, Northern Italy) was originally (1989) identified as a gastric pellet made of pterosaur skeletal elements. The specimen has been reported in literature as one of the very few cases of gastric ejecta containing pterosaur bones since then. However, the detailed analysis of the bones preserved in the pellet, their study by X-ray microCT, and the comparison with those of basal pterosaurs do not support a referral to the Pterosauria. The herbivorous sauropod dinosaurs of the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods were the largest terrestrial animals ever, surpassing the largest herbivorous mammals by an order of magnitude in body mass. Several evolutionary lineages among Sauropoda produced giants with body masses in excess of 50 metric tonnes by conservative estimates. Radiological Outcomes of Bone-Level and Tissue-Level Dental Implants: Systematic Review

Purpose: to assess any differences on marginal bone loss between bone-level or tissue-level dental implants through a review of literature until September 2019. Materials and methods: MEDLINE, Embase and other database were searched by two independent authors. The search was limited to articles in English. Results: The search provided 1028 records and, after removing the duplicates through titles and abstracts screening, 45 full-text articles were assessed for eligibility. For qualitative analysis 20 articles were included, 17 articles of them for quantitative analysis. Familial resemblance and diversity in bone structure and strength in adulthood are determined in part during growth. Whether these characteristics are established during gestation or shortly after birth is not known. Total-body, lumbar spine, and femoral neck size and mass and indices of tibial bending strength and distal radial compressive strength were measured using bone densitometry and quantitative computed tomography in 236 girls at 18.5 years of age. Bone Mineral Density and Bone Metabolism in Diabetes Mellitus

The effect of diabetes mellitus on bone metabolism and bone mineral density is discussed controversially. Diabetes mellitus due to an autoimmune process seems to be associated with low turnover osteopenia either in the animal model or in children and adolescents. A number of factors are discussed as being involved, but in this age group clinical symptoms are missing. Adult patients of either sex with IDDM show a reduced bone mineral density when measured at peripheral sites such as the distal forearm or the femoral neck, diabetic complications such as neuropathy and microangiopathy seem to pronounce the deficit of bone mass. Ipriflavone prevents radial bone loss in postmenopausal women with low bone mass over 2 years.

Two hundred and fifty-five postmenopausal women with distal forearm bone mineral density (BMD) 1 SD below the mean value for normal age-matched postmenopausal subjects were randomly allocated to a 2-year treatment with oral ipriflavone (200 mg t.i.d.) or a matched placebo, according to a double-masked, parallel-group design.
