Autor wyjaśnia, czym jest ta granica w warunkach, kiedy Wielka Brytania nie jest już członkiem Unii Europejskiej, a więc przebieg tej granicy może stanowić barierę dla swobodnego przepływu osób, towarów, kapitału i usług. ''Dual'' gravity: Using spatial econometrics to control for multilateral resistance.

We propose a quantity-based `dual' version of the gravity equation that yields an estimating equation with both cross-sectional interdependence and spatially lagged error terms. Such an equation can be concisely estimated using spatial econometric techniques. We illustrate this methodology by applying it to the Canada-U.S. data set used previously, among others, by Anderson and van Wincoop (2003) and Feenstra (2002, 2004). Our key result is to show that controlling directly for spatial interdependence across trade flows, as suggested by theory, significantly reduces border effects because it captures `multilateral resistance'. W artykule przedstawiam portret Ewy Korzeniowskiej, matki Josepha Conrada oraz siostry Tadeusza Bobrowskiego, na której życie osobiste (podobnie jak na życie wielu kresowych szlachcianek) przemożny wpływ miała historia. Polityka, jaką Rosja carska stosowała wobec Polaków, którzy ośmielili się marzyć o niepodległości w sposób dramatyczny naznaczyła całe jej życie. Z jej korespondencji oraz przekazu bliskich jej osób wyłania się portret prawdziwej matki Polki oddanej swojej rodzinie i ojczyźnie.

Language is a powerful tool. Linguistic creativity provides the means to new ways of knowing, thinking, and being, and allows a new set of dialogues to emerge. This paper illuminates how Guillermo Gómez-Peña, a Chicano performance artist, writer, activist and educator uses language to do just this. In this paper, I will specifically focus on Gómez-Peña’s use of monolingual English and Spanish, as well as his application of code-mixed dialogue and illustrate how his linguistic innovation reflects his position on Border Culture. peerReviewed

The paper covers the analysis of water management problems in the cross-border reservoir basin of Bukówka, located at the Bóbr river, at 271+540 km of its course, below the Czech-Polish border, in Dolnośląskie Voivodeship. The problems of water management in the context of the reservoir’s functions have been analyzed; these are: flood control, the provision of water during low water level periods for the Water Treatment Plant in Marciszów, the provision of drinking water for the city of Wałbrzych as well as the provision of proper flow in the Bóbr river bed downstream from the reservoir.
