Critical review of [K- ppn] bound states
2008
We make a thorough study of the process of three body kaon absorption in nuclei, in connection with a recent FINUDA experiment which claims the existence of a deeply bound kaonic state from the observation of a peak in the Lambda d invariant mass distribution following K- absorption on Li6. We show that the peak is naturally explained in terms of K- absorption from three nucleons leaving the rest as spectators. We can also reproduce all the other observables measured in the same experiment and used to support the hypothesis of the deeply bound kaon state. Our study also reveals interesting aspects of kaon absorption in nuclei, a process that must be understood in order to make progress in t…
Tetraquarks in a chiral constituent-quark model
2003
We analyze the possibility of heavy-light tetraquark bound states by means of a chiral constituent quark model. The study is done in a variational approach. Special attention is paid to the contribution given by the different terms of the interacting potential and also to the role played by the different color channels. We find a stable state for both $qq\bar{c}\bar{c}$ and $qq\bar{b}\bar{b}$ configurations. Possible decay modes of these structures are analyzed.
Photoproduction of pions on 3He and 3H
1969
Abstract In this paper the photoproduction of pions on nuclei with three nucleons is considered in the “elastic” channels. The calculation is done using the impulse approximation and neglecting rescattering effects.
Zur Begründung eines Variationsprinzipes für zerfallende Systeme
1976
Taking into account the circumstance that the decay of an unstable microscopic system into two fragments is established by the counting of one of the decay products in a detector, the observed exponential decay law then asserts only knowledge of the spatiotemporal behaviour of the probability density (and therewith knowledge of the decaying state) at a large finite distance from the site of decay. We therefore formulate a variational principle, of which stationary functions show this decay behaviour. In addition to the resonant wave functions there are also solutions of the variational principle, which decrease exponentially with increasing distance, i.e., functions which could be used to d…
Possible ω bound states in nuclei produced with the (γ,p) reaction
2007
We perform calculations for ω production in nuclei by means of the ( γ, p) reaction for photon energies and proton angles suited to currently running and future experiments in present laboratories. For some cases of possible ω optical potentials, we find that clear peaks are observable when a good resolution in the ω energy is available. We also study the inclusive production of π 0 γ in nuclei around the ω energy and find a double hump structure for the energy spectra, with a peak around a π 0 γ energy of mω − 100 MeV, which could easily be misidentified by a signal of an ω bound state in nuclei, while it is actually due to a different scaling of the uncorrelated π 0 γ production and ω pro…
Production of Θ+ hypernuclei with the (K+,π+) reaction
2005
Abstract We present results on the production of bound states of Θ + in nuclei using the ( K + , π + ) reaction. By taking into account the states obtained within a wide range of strength of the Θ + nucleus optical potential, plus the possibility to replace different nucleons of the nucleus, we obtain an excitation spectra with clearly differentiated peaks. The magnitude of the calculated cross sections is well within reachable range.
A narrow quasi-bound state of the DNN system
2013
Abstract We have investigated a charmed system of DNN (composed of two nucleons and a D meson) by a complementary study with a variational calculation and a Faddeev calculation with fixed-center approximation (Faddeev-FCA). In the present study, we employ a DN potential based on a vector–meson exchange picture in which a resonant Λ c ( 2595 ) is dynamically generated as a DN quasi-bound state, similarly to the Λ ( 1405 ) as a K ¯ N one in the strange sector. As a result of the study of variational calculation with an effective DN potential and three kinds of NN potentials, the D N N ( J π = 0 − , I = 1 / 2 ) is found to be a narrow quasi-bound state below Λ c ( 2595 ) N threshold: total bin…
Binding of charmonium with two- and three-body nuclei
2006
The energies of the (eta_c d) and (eta_c 3He) bound states are calculated on the basis of exact three- and four-body AGS equations. For the eta_c N interaction a Yukawa-type potential has been adopted. The calculations are done for a certain range of its strength parameter. The results obtained are quite different from calculations based on the folding model.
Trilinear couplings and scalar bound states in supersymmetric extensions of the standard model
2001
Abstract The trilinear terms in minimal supersymmetric extensions of the standard model can be responsible of forming a bound state of scalars. In this talk we outline our results on the study of this bound state using a non-perturbative method, the exact renormalization group. We focus on the trilinear term between the Higgs and stop fields.
Spectroscopy of excited state positronium
1994
Electric dipole transitions in the microwave range have been induced between the fine-structure levels of positronium in the excited staten=2. As an indication of the transitions, we used the increase in Lyman-α radiation when the metastable 23S1-level is depopulated. The results for the transitions 23S1→23P0,1,2 areΝ 0=18499.65±1.20±4.00 MHz,Ν 1=13012.42 ±0.65±1.54 MHz andΝ 2=8624.38±0.54±1.40 MHz. The first error is statistical and the second systematic. The precision of the present measurement has improved by a factor of 3, compared to previous data. Recent bound state QED-calculations have been extended to the orderR t8 α 4lnα −1. The not yet completely calculated orderR t8 α 4 is estim…
