Recent studies on extracellular RNA raised awareness that extracellular vesicles (EVs) isolated from cultured cells may co-purify RNAs derived from media supplements such as fetal bovine serum (FBS) confounding EV-associated RNA. Abstract To understand the effect of temperature, pH and the composition of alcoholic beverages in flavour-protein interactions, the binding of γ-decalactone to bovine serum albumin (BSA) was investigated using the equilibrium dialysis method. Thermodynamic analysis revealed that the affinity of aroma compound for BSA is higher at 10 °C than at 20 and 30 °C, while the number of binding sites (n = 6–7) is not modified at the three temperatures. pH did not have any appreciable effect on flavour binding in the presence of ethanol, but it was observed that a decrease of 1.8 pH unit reduces binding by 40% in its absence. A novel MUC1-glycopeptide–BSA conjugate vaccine with a specifically fluorinated Thomsen–Friedenreich antigen side chain at Thr6 was prepared. Preliminary immunological experiments reveal specific binding of the tumor-associated glycopeptide antigen analog by anti-MUC1-mouse antibodies.

Swinholides were discovered from the marine sponge Theonella sp. and were long suspected to be produced by symbiotic bacteria. Misakinolide, a structural variant of swinholide, was recently demonstrated to be the product of a symbiotic heterotrophic proteobacterium. Background This study investigated the effect of post bleaching treatments to the change of enamel elastic modulus and microhardness after dental bleaching in- vitro. Material and Methods Fifty bovine incisor slab were randomly assigned into five groups (n=10). The samples were bleached for three times; 20 minutes each time, by 40% hydrogen peroxide. Next it was applied fractional CO2 laser for two minutes, Nano- hydroxy apatite (N-HA) and MI-paste for 7 days and 2 minutes per day. The study of the aggregation processes in presence of metal ions is an essential step for understanding the key role of metals in protein-protein and protein-solvent interactions. Indeed, the presence of metal ions can radically change the main features of the standard denaturation/aggregation processes and such effects result to be strongly dependent on the kind of metal and on its concentration. Metal ions have an active role in thermal aggregation and cold set gelation processes. These processes are intrinsically different, but both are based on the proteins ability to form aggregates.
