AbstractA new study of the patere baccellate from the Tomba del carrettino at Ca’ Morta offers the opportunity to re-examine the typology of the ribbed bowls of Vetulonia/Colmar type and to re-evaluate their funerary contexts. These vessels appear in central and southern Etruria at the end of the eighth and the beginning of the seventh century BC, the site of Vetulonia being considered as their main production site.Ferdinando Sciacca’s (2005) classification of the ribbed bowls of Vetulonia/Colmar type is supported by solid evidence ; it has advanced the subject significantly, but Sciacca’s model nevertheless raises some questions in terms of the hierarchy of the criteria that were chosen.Du…

Introduction: Adalimumab (ADA) and golimumab (GOL) are effective in the induction and maintenance treatment of moderate-to-severe ulcerative colitis (UC). No comparable data between the 2 drugs are available up to now. Aims & Methods: We reported the Sicilian Network experience on the comparative efficacy of ADA and GOL in patients (pts) with moderate-to-severe UC. Przeprowadzono badania w celu sprawdzenia, w jaki sposób modele psychologiczne są w stanie wyjaśnić zjawisko agresji mężczyzn, którzy zażywają narkotyków, sterydów lub nie stosują takich substancji. Próbka mężczyzn (N = 131) została wybrana celowo pod względem uzależnienia od substancji, stosowania sterydów i bycia wolnego od substancji. Do pomiaru pięciu czynników osobowości wykorzystano dziesięciopunktowy spis osobowości (TIPI). The role of Pseudomonas fluorescens in the process of Rhizoctonia solani growth inhibition

The aim of conducted research was to determine influence of metabolites produced by Pseudomonas fluorescens on the growth of 4 phytopathogenic strains of Rhizoctonia solani marked R1, R2, R3 and R4 which infect sugar beetroot. The antagonistic properties were assessed with the culture-plate method on PDA medium for P. fluorescens cultured for 4, 6 8, 10 and 24 hours at 25 o C for 5 days. The fungistatic activity of P. fluorescens was determined against the growth rate index and the rate of mycelial growth inhibition. Biological control of Fusarium culmorum isolated from the cultivation of white asparagus by Pseudomonas fluorescens

Celem badań była ocena wpływu Pseudomonas fluorescens I-4 (Ps I-4) na Fusarium culmorum wyizolowanego z uprawy białego szparaga. Fusarium culmorum i pozostałe grzyby izolowano na podłożach PDA i szparagowym. Wśród izolatów uzyskanych z gleby najbardziej dominującymi patogenami były F. oxysporum i F. culmorum. Właściwości biologiczne nielotnych i lotnych związków Ps I-4 oceniano metodą hodowlano-płytkową na podłożach PDA i Czapka. Aktywność przeciwgrzybową określano na podstawie indeksu tempa wzrostu, zdolności kiełkowania zarodników, stopnia zahamowania wzrostu grzybni i zarodników. Substancje allelopatycznie aktywne jako potencjalne biopestycydy

Zaprezentowano rośliny marchwi jako źródło substancji wykazujących aktywność allelopatyczną. Przedstawiono sposoby efektywnej izolacji poszczególnych allelozwiązków z nasion marchwi oraz zakres ich aktywności biologicznej. Rezultaty badań wskazują na to, że zarówno olejek eteryczny jak i wodny ekstrakt z nasion marchwi wykazują silną, aczkolwiek odmienną aktywność allelopatyczną warunkowaną obecnością specyficznych substancji wykazujących różną aktywność biologiczną.

Chemically induced mouse models of intestinal inflammation

Animal models of intestinal inflammation are indispensable for our understanding of the pathogenesis of Crohn disease and ulcerative colitis, the two major forms of inflammatory bowel disease in humans. Here, we provide protocols for establishing murine 2,4,6-trinitro benzene sulfonic acid (TNBS)-, oxazolone- and both acute and chronic dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) colitis, the most widely used chemically induced models of intestinal inflammation. In the former two models, colitis is induced by intrarectal administration of the covalently reactive reagents TNBS/oxazolone, which are believed to induce a T-cell-mediated response against hapten-modified autologous proteins/luminal antigens.
