Abstract Background Ulcerative colitis (UC) is characterized by a diffuse, continuous, and chronic inflammation of mucosa and submucosa layers in the colon1. Inflammasome complex is involved in the intestinal homeostasis regulation, but its role in UC has not been established yet. Effects of feeding frequency on growth and food utilisation of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) fed low-fat herring or dry pellets

Abstract One-year-old rainbow trout (weight range 400–700 g) were fed for 18 weeks on low-fat herring or commercial dry pellets 1, 2 or 4 times in a day. Quadratic regression analysis indicated that at least three feedings were required for maximum growth and that fish fed a dry diet could benefit from even more frequent feeding. The proportion of lipid in growth increased with increased number of feedings, but the protein content was not affected (mean 18.6% protein wet basis). Food consumption (dry weight) was affected in a similar manner for both diets and its maximum occurred at slightly higher frequency than for maximum growth. Purpose The comparison of volume rendering (VR) and surface rendering (SSD) for demonstrating fractures from spiral-CT data. Materials and methods Standardized VR and SSD projections were produced from 50 spiral CT scans of 50 consecutive patients with fractures. Appropriate multiplanar reformattings (MPR) were used as the standard. Results SSD provided sufficient information in 31/50 cases. Results of VR were not significantly different (33/50). VR was superior in demonstrating 6/7 craniofacial fractures and 3/3 calcaneal fractures. SSD was superior for visualizing 2/3 shoulder fractures and 2/2 elbow fractures. The "Inflammatory Bowel Disease Stress Inventory (IBD-SI)" measures a broad spectrum of disease-specific every day stress factors in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Based on a multistage factor analysis on 300 CED patients, the final form comprises 32 items assigned to 8 different domains: depressed mood, doctor-patient relationship, anxiety about loss of bowel control, occupational impairment, worries about deteriovation, stress from medical treatment, impairment of sexuality/partnership and physical complaints.
