Metacarpal V fractures, especially metacarpal neck fractures, are known to the forensic society as a ‘boxer’s fracture’ and are described as being mostly caused by punching an immovable or firm object with force with a closed fist. To our knowledge there is no larger study that examines these fractures under forensic considerations of epidemiology. Our study includes the analysis of metacarpal V fractures in an interdisciplinary, academic and university-affiliated emergency department of an urban hospital over a period of three years. Emergency data sheets were systematically analysed and X-rays evaluated. The results were compared with the existing literature.

It has been proposed that norepinephrine plays a critical role in the modulation of cortical excitability, which in turn is thought to influence functional recovery from brain lesions. The purpose of the present experiments was to determine if it is possible to modulate cortical excitability with the selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor reboxetine in intact humans. Reports of wood mouse arboreality are rather scarce outside Britain. I reviewed and analysed 267 visits and 16.456 checks of glirids artificial nest-boxes mounted on trees, in twelve sample areas of Meso- and Supra-Mediterranean woodlands (Sicily, 1995-2005). The wood mouse was recorded only 65 times (0.395%) using the artificial nest-boxes in nine sample areas, and based on this low frequency, the wood mouse can be considered as an occasional dweller of artificial nest-boxes. A fully automated method including column-switching and isocratic high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was developed for quantitative analysis of the new antidepressant reboxetine, a noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor. Aripiprazole is a novel atypical antipsychotic drug for the treatment of schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders (1)(2)(3). The drug is metabolized by the cytochrome P450 isoenzymes 3A4 and 2D6 (4). Because of high interindividual variability in the expression of these enzymes, the aripiprazole concentration varies among healthy individuals after administration of the drug (5).
