Open graft repair of thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms (TAAA) is an incredibly complex and challenging procedure with acceptable results achieved only by a few centers worldwide. Contemporary outcome analysis of TAAA repair performed in the United States showed greater operative mortality and morbidity rates than commonly reported. Moreover, a recent European long-term follow-up study showed that survival remains suboptimal, especially in the early years after TAAA repair. Complete renovisceral debranching combined with EVAR offers many advantages in regard to open surgical repair with comparable or better results, especially in the high-risk patient. Job shop scheduling by a parallel approach

The paper deals with a parallel approach to job shop scheduling by a branch and bound methodology using the lower bound proposed by Ashour and Hiremath. The optimal solution is achieved by an iterative-reductive strategy. At each iteration the algorithm investigates the conflict intervals and it selects a subset of the possible solutions. The makespan value, achieved by the parallel processes, gives the upper limit for the admissible lower bound of the intermediate solutions. Furthermore the best makespan reached by each iteration is reused as a filter to reduce the complexity of the next iteration. Shock waves have been thoroughly investigated during the last century in many different branches of physics. In conservative (Hamiltonian) systems the shock singularity is regularized by weak wave dispersion, thus leading to the formation of a rapidly and regular oscillating structure, usually termed in the literature dispersive shock wave (DSW), see e.g. [1]. Available data on Sicilian entomostracans allowed an initial characterization of the freshwater crustacean biota of the island and to formulate some hypotheses on its origin.The absence of supra-specific endemic taxa and the current regional distriburion of the investigated species suggest a late Pleistocene colonisation of the island by temperate taxa with a northern affinity, currently confined to the coolest areas of the island, followed by a Holocene arrival of thermophilous species coming from the Maghreb, which is still in progress. Compreender a distribuição espacial de espécies vulneráveis a exploração pesqueira pode subsidiar ações de manejo e conservação. O objetivo deste estudo foi mapear possíveis habitats essenciais para riqueza de elasmobrânquios no sul do Brasil. Os dados são oriundos de cruzeiro científico realizado em fevereiro de 2005 entre o arroio Chuí (33°45'S) e o Cabo de Santa Marta Grande (28°36'S).
