Absorptive effects inK+Λphotoproduction on nucleons and nuclei
1989
Incorporating final state correlation effects, we have reinvestigated the ..gamma.. /sup 1/H..-->..K/sup +/..lambda.. elementary process. Our model not only resolves the persisting trouble of the small KN..lambda.. coupling constant, but also yields agreement with cross section data at higher energies. Using our amplitudes, we calculate angular distributions for the reaction /sup 16/O(..gamma..,K/sup +/)/sub ..lambda..//sup 16/N . While the forward cross section increases with increasing energy, the total cross section is almost constant from E/sub ..gamma../ = 1.2 GeV through 2 GeV, suggesting that rather low photon energies hold promise for exploration of hypernuclear excitations.
Discovery of 157W and 161Os
2010
The nuclides W-157 and Os-161 have been discovered ill reactions of Ni-58 ion beams with a Cd-106 target. The Os-161 alpha-decay energy and half-life were 6890 +/- 12 keV and 640 +/- 60 mu s. The d ...
Experimental study ofβ-delayed proton decay ofAl23for nucleosynthesis in novae
2011
The $\ensuremath{\beta}$-delayed $\ensuremath{\gamma}$ and proton decay of $^{23}\mathrm{Al}$ has been studied with an alternative detector setup at the focal plane of the momentum achromat recoil separator MARS at Texas A University. We could detect protons down to an energy of 200 keV and determine the corresponding branching ratios. Contrary to results of previous $\ensuremath{\beta}$-decay studies, no strong proton intensity from the decay of the isobaric analog state (IAS) of the $^{23}\mathrm{Al}$ ground state at ${E}_{x}=7803$ keV in $^{23}\mathrm{Mg}$ was observed. Instead we assign the observed low-energy group ${E}_{p,\mathrm{c}.\mathrm{m}.}=206$ keV to the decay from a state that…
Studying thePc(4450)resonance inJ/ψphotoproduction off protons
2016
A resonancelike structure, the ${P}_{c}(4450)$, has recently been observed in the $J/\ensuremath{\psi}p$ spectrum by the LHCb Collaboration. We discuss the feasibility of detecting this structure in $J/\ensuremath{\psi}$ photoproduction in the CLAS12 experiment at JLab. We present a first estimate of the upper limit for the branching ratio of the ${P}_{c}(4450)$ to $J/\ensuremath{\psi}p$. Our estimates, which take into account the experimental resolution effects, predict that it will be possible to observe a sizable cross section close to the $J/\ensuremath{\psi}$ production threshold and shed light on the ${P}_{c}(4450)$ resonance in the future photoproduction measurements.
Measurement of the B0→D*−π+π−π+ branching fraction
2016
Using a sample of (470.9 +- 2.8) x 10^6 BB-bar pairs, we measure the decay branching fraction B(B^0 -> D^*- pi^+ pi^- pi^+) = (7.26 +- 0.11 +- 0.31) x 10^-3, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. Our measurement will be helpful in studies of lepton universality by measuring B(B^0 -> D^*- tau^+ nu_tau) using tau^+ -> pi^+ pi^- pi^+ nu-bar_tau decays, normalized to B(B^0 -> D^*- pi^+ pi^- pi^+.
Evidence for ChargedBMeson Decays toa1±(1260)π0anda10(1260)π±
2007
We present measurements of the branching fractions for the decays B±→a1±(1260)π0 and B±→a10(1260)π± from a data sample of 232×106 BB pairs produced in e+e- annihilation through the Υ(4S) resonance. We measure the branching fraction B(B±→a1±(1260)π0)×B(a1±(1260) →π-π+π±)=(13.2±2.7±2.1)×10-6 with a significance of 4.2σ, and the branching fraction B(B±→ a10(1260)π±)×B(a10(1260)→π-π+π0)=(20.4±4. 7±3.4)×10-6 with a significance of 3.8σ, where the first error quoted is statistical and the second is systematic. © 2007 The American Physical Society.
NA48/62 latest results
2017
The NA62 experiment at the CERN SPS recorded in 2007 a large sample of K+ ? µ+?µ decays. A peak search in the missing mass spectrum of this decay is performed. In the absence of observed signal, the limits obtained on B(K+ ? µ+?h) and on the mixing matrix element |Uµ 4| are reported. The upgraded NA62 experiment started data taking in 2015. About 5×1011K+ decays have been recorded so far to measure the branching ratio of the K+ ? ?+?? decay. Preliminary results from the K+ ? ?+?? analysis based on about 5% of the 2016 statistics are reported.
f1(1285) decays into a0(980)π0, f0(980)π0 and isospin breaking
2016
We evaluate the decay width for the processes f1(1285) → π0a0(980) and f1(1285) → π0f0(980) taking into account that all three resonances are dynamically generated from the meson-meson interaction, the f1(1285) from K*K¯+cc and the a0 (980), f0(980) from πη, KK¯ and ππ, KK¯ respectively. We use a triangular mechanism similar to that of the η(1405)→ππη, which provides a decay width for f1 (1285) → π0a0 (980) with a branching fraction of the order of 30%, in agreement with experiment. At the same time we evaluate the decay width for the isospin forbidden f1(1285) → π0 f0(980), which appears when we consider different masses for the charged and neutral kaons, and show that it is much more supp…
A reanalysis of branching fractions of charmed mesonsD 0,D + andD s +
1992
We combine highly complementary information on branching fractions of charmed mesonsD0,D+ andDs+ coming from two experiments both yielding doublecharm samples. The NA 32 experiment provided exclusive branching fractions for channels with at least two charged decay products while a recent Mark III paper provides results on inclusive charm decay properties. The knowledge of channels withK0's in the former is used to recalculate the charged multiplicity distribution in the latter. We obtain 〈nch〉=2.25±0.08 forD0, 〈nch〉=1.96±0.08 forD+ and 〈nch〉=2.41±0.38 forDs+. In turn the knowledge of the charged multiplicity improves the overall normalization of exclusive branching fractions. This reanalysi…
$$N\bar N$$ annihilation at rest into five pions
1993
\(N\bar N\) annihilation at rest into five pions was studied in the ASTERIX spectrometer by stopping antiprotrons from LEAR in a H2 or D2 gas target. In\(\bar pp\) annihilations in H2 leading to the π+π−π+π−π0 final state, the invariant mass spectra of two, three, and four pions show no evidence for any new narrow states. In\(\bar pn \to \pi ^ + \pi ^ - \pi ^ + \pi ^ - \pi ^ - \) the difference of the four pion mass spectra recoiling against a π− and those recoiling against a π+ shows a resonance-like structure (“ζ (1480)”), confirming a previous analysis with a smaller event sample. The ζ (1480) mass is shown to depend strongly on the momentum of the spectator proton. In H2, we searched fo…
