Precision measurements of branching fractions forψ′→π0J/ψandηJ/ψ

2012

We present a precision study of the psi' -> pi(0)J/Psi and eta J/Psi decay modes. The measurements are obtained using 106 x 10(6) psi' events accumulated with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII e(+)e(-) collider operating at a center-of-mass energy corresponding to the psi' mass. We obtain B(psi' -> pi(0)J/Psi) = (1.26 +/- 0.02(stat) +/- 0.03(syst)) x 10(-3) and B(psi' -> eta J/Psi) = (33.75 +/- 0.17(stat) +/- 0.86(syst)) x 10(-3). The branching fraction ratio R = B(psi'->pi(0)J/psi)/B(psi'->eta J/psi) is determined to be (3.74 +/- 0.06(stat) +/- 0.04(syst)) x 10(-2). The precision of these measurements of B(Psi' -> pi(0)J/Psi) and R represent a significant improvement over previously publis…

Study of theB−→J/ψK−π+π−decay and measurement of theB−→X(3872)K−branching fraction

2005

The authors study the decay B{sup -} {yields} J/{psi}K{sup -}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -} using 117 million B{bar B} events collected at the {Upsilon}(4S) resonance with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II e{sup +}e{sup -} asymmetric-energy storage ring. They measure the branching fractions {Beta}(B{sup -} {yields} J/{psi}K{sup -} {pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}) = (116 {+-} 7(stat.) {+-} 9(syst.)) x 10{sup -5} and {Beta}(B{sup -} {yields} X(3872)K{sup -}) x {Beta}(X(3872) {yields} J/{psi}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}) = (1.28 {+-} 0.41) x 10{sup -5} and find the mass of the X(3872) to be 3873.4 {+-} 1.4MeV/c{sup 2}. They search for the h{sub c} narrow state in the decay B{sup -} {yields} h{sub c} K{sup -}, h{sub c…

Investigation of the ββ decay of 116Cd into excited states of 116Sn

1994

Abstract The double-beta decay of 116Cd into excited states of 116Sn is experimentally and theoretically investigated. From an inclusive experiment, using an external source of isotopically enriched Cd, new most stringent limits for the allowed and non-standard-model decays into excited states are derived. It is further investigated whether the bremsstrahlung emitted by the ββ electrons can be used to derive information on the ground-state decay. For the two-neutrino-decay mode a calculation, using the quasiparticle random-phase approximation, shows that the disadvantage in phase space, in comparison to the ground-state decay, is partially compensated through the nuclear-matrix element. Exp…

2011

We report updated branching fraction measurements of the color-suppressed decays B ^(0) → D^(0)π^(0), D^(*0)π^(0), D^(0)η, D^(*0)η, D^(0)ω, D^(*0)ω, D^(0)η′, and D^(*0)η′. We measure the branching fractions (×10^(-4)): B(B^0 → D^(0)π^(0)) = 2.69±0.09±0.13, B(B^(0) → D^(*0)π^(0)) = 3.05±0.14±0.28, B(B^(0) → D^(0)η) = 2.53±0.09±0.11, B(B^(0) → D^(*0)η) = 2.69±0.14±0.23, B(B^(0) → D^(0)ω) = 2.57±0.11±0.14, B(B^(0) → D^(*0)ω) = 4.55±0.24±0.39, B(B^(0)→D^(0)η′) = 1.48±0.13±0.07, and B(B^(0) → D^(*0)n′) = 1.49±0.22±0.15. We also present the first measurement of the longitudinal polarization fraction of the decay channel D*0ω, fL=(66.5±4.7±1.5)%. In the above, the first uncertainty is statistical …

Non-mesonic weak decay of A hypernuclei

1998

Abstract The non-mesonic decay modes of Λ hypernuclei are examined. The one-nucleon induced decay (ΛN → NN) is studied in a shell-model framework using a meson-exchange picture. The total decay rates and parity-violating asymmetries reproduce the available experimental data. However, the model does not yet explain the partial rates and the resulting neutron- to proton-induced ratio Γ n /Γ p . The two-nucleon-induced decay rate (ΛNN -> NNN) is evaluated using the propagator formalism and the local-density approximation and is found to contribute about 15% to the total decay width of medium to heavy hypernuclei. The influence of this channel on the experimental determination of the ratio Γ n …

Precise measurement of the K±→π±e+e− decay

2009

Abstract A sample of 7253 K ± → π ± e + e − ( γ ) decay candidates with 1.0% background contamination has been collected by the NA48/2 experiment at the CERN SPS, which allowed a precise measurement of the decay properties. The branching ratio in the full kinematic range was measured to be BR = ( 3.11 ± 0.12 ) × 10 − 7 , where the uncertainty includes also the model dependence. The shape of the form factor W ( z ) , where z = ( M e e / M K ) 2 , was parameterized according to several models, and, in particular, the slope δ of the linear form factor W ( z ) = W 0 ( 1 + δ z ) was determined to be δ = 2.32 ± 0.18 . A possible CP violating asymmetry of K + and K − decay widths was investigated,…

Mass and Γ3π0/Γγγ decay branching ratio of theη-meson from the p(γ, η)p reaction

1995

Near threshold photoproduction ofη-mesons from the proton has been measured at the MAMI accelerator with the TAPS spectrometer. The mass of theη-meson was deduced from the threshold energy forη-photoproduction. The result of m η =(547.12 ± 0.06 ± 0.25) MeV supports the low value of theη-mass reported from a dp →3Heη measurement at SATURNE in 1992. Theη-decay branching ratio Γ3π0/Γγγ was measured to be (0.832±0.005±0.012).

The decay of 0.57 s114Cs

1980

Fusion reactions between58Ni projectiles and58Ni target nuclei were used to produce114Cs activity, which was studied by on-line mass separation and decay spectroscopy. The obtained half-life of 0.57±0.02 s and the probability ratio of 44±3 between betadelayed proton and beta-delayed alpha emission represent data with improved precision. The absolute branching ratios for both particle decay modes were determined to be (7 ±2)×10−2 and (1.6±0.6)×10−3, respectively. These branching ratios and the shapes of particle spectra are discussed with reference to the statistical model calculations. Groundstate alpha decay of114Cs was observed with an alpha energy of 3,226±30 keV and a branching ratio of…

A new measurement of the K±→π±γγ decay at the NA48/2 experiment

2014

Abstract The NA48/2 experiment at CERN collected two data samples with minimum bias trigger conditions in 2003 and 2004. A measurement of the rate and dynamic properties of the rare decay K ± → π ± γ γ from these data sets based on 149 decay candidates with an estimated background of 15.5 ± 0.7 events is reported. The model-independent branching ratio in the kinematic range z = ( m γ γ / m K ) 2 > 0.2 is measured to be B MI ( z > 0.2 ) = ( 0.877 ± 0.089 ) × 10 − 6 , and the branching ratio in the full kinematic range assuming a particular Chiral Perturbation Theory description to be B ( K π γ γ ) = ( 0.910 ± 0.075 ) × 10 − 6 .
