Evidence for theB0→pp¯K*0andB+→ηcK*+decays and study of the decay dynamics ofBmeson decays intopp¯hfinal states

With a sample of 232x10^6 Upsilon(4S)->BBbar events collected with the BaBar detector, we study the decays of B mesons to ppbarh final states, where h=pi+,Ks,K*0 or K*+. We report evidence for the B->ppbarK*0 decay, with a branching fraction (1.5+/-0.5(stat)+/-0.4(syst))x10^-6, and for the B+->eta_cK*+ decay, with the branching fraction of Br(B+->eta_cK*+)xBr(eta_c->ppbar)=(1.57^{+0.56}_{-0.45}(stat)^{+0.46}_{-0.36}(syst))x10^-6, and provide improved measurements of the branching fractions of the other modes of this type. We also report the measurements of the charge asymmetry consistent with zero in the B+->ppbarpi+, B0->ppbarK*0 and B+->ppbarK*+ modes. No evidence is found for the pentaqu…

Measurement of the ratio using event shape variables

Abstract The branching fraction of Z → b b relative to all hadronic decays of the Z has been measured using event shape variables to preferentially select Z → b b events. The method chosen applies a combination of shape discriminators and the selection of high transverse momentum leptons to event hemispheres. From a sample of 440 000 hadronic Z decays collected with the ALEPH detector at LEP, the ration Γ b b Γ had = 0.228±0.005( stat. )±0.005( syst. ) is measured.

Prospects for the Zee-Babu Model at the LHC and low energy experiments

We analyze the viability of the Zee-Babu model as an explanation of observed neutrino masses and mixings and the possibility that the model is confirmed or discarded in experiments planned for the very close future. The allowed parameter space is studied analytically by using some approximations and partial data. Then, a complete scanning of all parameters and constraints is performed numerically by using Monte Carlo methods. The cleanest signal of the model will be the detection of the doubly charged scalar at the LHC and its correlation with measurements of the branching ratio of $\mu\to e\gamma$ at the MEG experiment. Search for Higgs bosons decaying to τ+τ− pairs in pp¯ collisions at s=1.96 TeV

Abstract We present a search for the production of neutral Higgs bosons decaying into τ + τ − pairs in p p ¯ collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb−1, were collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We set upper limits at the 95% C.L. on the product of production cross section and branching ratio for a scalar resonance decaying into τ + τ − pairs, and we interpret these limits as limits on the production of Higgs bosons in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) and as constraints in the MSSM parameter space.

Search forZH→ℓ+ℓ−bb¯production in9.7  fb−1ofpp¯collisions with the D0 detector

We present a search for the standard model (SM) Higgs boson produced in association with a Z boson in 9.7 fb-1 of ppbar collisions collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider at sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV. Selected events contain one reconstructed Z -> e+e- or Z -> mu+mu- candidate and at least two jets, including at least one jet likely to contain a b quark. To validate the search procedure, we also measure the cross section for ZZ production, and find that it is consistent with the SM expectation. We set upper limits at the 95% C.L. on the product of the ZH production cross section and branching ratio B(H -> bbbar) for Higgs boson masses 90

Time-dependent and time-integrated angular analysis ofB→φKS0π0andφK±π∓

We perform a time-dependent and time-integrated angular analysis of the B{sup 0} {yields} {psi}K*(892){sup 0}, {psi}K*{sub 2}(1430{sup 0}), and {psi}(K{pi}){sub S-wave}{sup 0} decays with the final sample of about 465 million B{bar B} pairs recorded with the BABAR detector. Overall, twelve parameters are measured for the vector-vector decay, nine parameters for the vector-tensor decay, and three parameters for the vector-scalar decay, including the branching fractions, CP-violation parameters, and parameters sensitive to final state interaction. Dalitz plot analysis of the decay B±→K±K±K∓

We analyze the three-body charmless decay B-+/-->(KKK -/+)-K-+/--K-+/- using a sample of 226.0 +/- 2.5 million B (B) over bar pairs collected by the BABAR detector. We measure the total branching fraction and CP asymmetry to be B=(35.2 +/- 0.9 +/- 1.6)x10(-6) and A(CP)=(-1.7 +/- 2.6 +/- 1.5)%. We fit the Dalitz plot distribution using an isobar model and measure the magnitudes and phases of the decay coefficients. We find no evidence of CP violation for the individual components of the isobar model. The decay dynamics is dominated by the K+K- S-wave, for which we perform a partial-wave analysis in the region m(K+K-)< 2 GeV/c(2). Significant production of the f(0)(980) resonance, and of a sp…

Initial results from the PIENU experiment

The pion branching ratio, $R_{\pi } = \frac { {\Gamma }(\pi ^{+} \rightarrow e^{+} \nu _{e} + \pi ^{+}\rightarrow e^{+} \nu _{e} \gamma )}{\Gamma (\pi ^{+} \rightarrow \mu ^{+} \nu _{\mu } + \pi ^{+} \rightarrow \mu ^{+} \nu _{\mu } \gamma )}$ , provides a sensitive test of lepton universality and constraints on many new physics scenarios. The theoretical uncertainty on the Standard Model prediction of R π is 0.02 %, a factor of twenty smaller than the experimental uncertainty. Search for the decayB0→J/ψγ

We present the results of a search for the radiative decay B0 --> J/psi gamma in a data set containing 123 million Y(4S)--> B B-bar decays, collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- storage ring at SLAC. We find no evidence for a signal and place an upper limit of B(B0 --> J/psi gamma) < 1.6 x 10^-6 at 90% confidence level.

Search for pair production of second generation scalar leptoquarks

We report on a search for the pair production of second generation scalar leptoquarks (LQ) in ppbar collisions at the center of mass energy sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb-1 collected with the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. Topologies arising from the LQLQbar-&gt;muqnuq and LQLQbar-&gt;muqmuq decay modes are investigated. No excess of data over the standard model prediction is observed and upper limits on the leptoquark pair production cross section are derived at the 95% C.L. as a function of the leptoquark mass and the branching fraction beta for the decay LQ-&gt;muq.
