Factors influencing axillary shoot proliferation and adventitious budding in cedar.

We developed procedures for in vitro cloning of Cedrus atlantica Manetti and C. libani A. Rich explants from juvenile and mature plants. Explant size was one determinant of the frequency of axillary bud break in both species. Shoot tips and nodal explants mainly developed calli, whereas bud sprouting occurred in defoliated microcuttings cultured on a modified Murashige and Skoog medium without growth regulators. Isolation and continuous subculture of sprouted buds on the same medium allowed cloning of microcuttings from C. atlantica and C. libani seedlings and bicentennial C. libani trees, thus providing a desirable alternative for multiplying mature trees that have demonstrated superior ch…

The nature of the carbon nanotube/polymer bonding and the curvature of the carbon nanotubes within the polymer have arisen as particular factors in the efficacy of the carbon nanotubes to actually provide any enhanced stiffness or strength to the nanocomposite. Micropropagation of bay laurel (Daphne gnidiumL.)

SummaryProcedures have been developed for the micropropagation of Daphne gnidium, a shrub species of ecological interest, using explants of juvenile and adult origin. Shoot proliferation rates were significantly affected by both salt formulation and benzylade- nine concentration. Best results were obtained on WP medium with 5 µM BA. The presence of indoleacetic acid in the induction medium improved BA-induced axillary bud proliferation from juvenile explants. Rooting of shoots produced in culture was difficult, especially those of adult origin. <p style="text-align: justify;">Defoliation and decapitation experiments showed that the growth of a grapevine leaf was inhibited by both the terminal bud and the younger higher leaves. There is a phenomenon of synergy between these two influences. A young leaf freed of these two influences showed a higher growth rate than the norm ; this is « compensatory growth ». It is when a leaf is in its phase of maximal growth that it is most able to realize this &amp;laquo compensatory growth ». This is not due to a longer growth time, but more to a faster growth rate. Objective - This article aims at showing that management control should drop cybernetic control for some activities of good sales. Study design - Reviewing Sutherland's (1975) and Hofstede's (1978) articles, it seems that activities of good sales can be controlled by a cybernetic control, like program-planning-budgeting systems. If sales of fashion goods were linear, like Miller et al.'s (1993) model, their forecasting would be possible and useful. However, two other models show that these sales could be chaotic (Granovetter and Soong ; Nakayama and Nakamura, 2004).
