«Bracconiere di ricordi». Memoria e oblio in Gesualdo Bufalino
2021
The essay aims to analyze the connection between memory and oblivion that Bufalino investigates in his inventive work. Memory and its reverse, forgetfulness, are important themes of a writing that questions itself on the very reasons for its making. Bufalino’s narrative is populated with characters without a past, constructed by subtraction, through a chiaroscuro made up of full and above all voids, omissions, erasures. In the stories of the book L’uomo invaso e altre invenzioni the ghosts of oblivion and the emblematic images of erased memory, of the bleeding of memories affected by «wounds of passing time» coexist with references to the literary character of the “forgetful”, who suffers f…

Migrazioni letterarie della parola della notte (Shaharazad, Djebar, Bufalino)
2008

Rewriting Romance in the Second Half of 20th Century in Italy
2013
Many authors in the last century offer us the possibility to look at romance through their rewriting of Italian tradition, but they also offer the possibility to look at rewriting through romance. A systematic examination of every single work would need an article itself. Here the focus is rather on the phenomenon and its implications with tradition and its transformations; and on the intellectual context where they take place. Despite the very core of the poetics of rewriting can be located between the Sixties and the Eighties, these palimpsests go further, into the Nineties. From Calvino, Manganelli and Sanguineti, to Celati, Bufalino and Santagata, we are able to look at different declen…
