Glass block is a building product widely used for the construction of translucent building façades and roofs. The need to adapt the product to the regulations in the field of energy saving and environmental sustainability has led to the design of innovative configurations, through the integration of different sub-components. Construction of the A-4 Motorway section in the Opole Region begun in Summer 1997. Very soon vigorous resistance of ecological NGOs was encountered. The bone of contention was the section of motorway that passes through the Góra Świętej Anny Landscape Park and verges the natural reserve of strict protection Ligota Dolna where rare species of thermophilic plants are sheltered. Intermediate Isolation System for the seismic retrofit of existing masonry buildings

This paper deals with the potentials of Intermediate Isolation Systems (IIS) for retrofitting masonry buildings by means of a vertical extension, isolated at its base, and realized on the rooftop of the existing structure. By carefully defining the dynamic properties of the superstructure and isolation system, in previous papers the authors have demonstrated that this passive technique is able to reduce a priori the seismic demand on the existing building. This paper investigates the fundamental period of vibration of RC buildings by means of finite element macro-modelling and modal eigenvalue analysis. As a base study, a number of 14-storey RC buildings have been considered \"according to code designed\" and \"according to code non-designed\". Several parameters have been studied including the number of spans; the span length in the direction of motion; the stiffness of the infills; the percentage openings of the infills and; the location of the soft storeys. Diese Studie bot ebenfalls Gelegenheit, die geologischen Eigenschaften der im Clos de Vougeot eingebrachten Baumaterialien genauestens zu untersuchen und neue Erkenntnisse zum Bau dieser Gebäude zu gewinnen und zu präzisieren.

The objective of the paper is to describe a stochastic model that has been developed to obtain load profiles for household electricity. For the study, several profiles have been generated in order to simulate the electrical demand of a residential building block or neighbourhood and evaluate the uncertainty of its energy use.
