Somatic complaints during preadolescence are connected to individual and contextual factors, and extant research highlights the relevance of alexithymia and bullying involvement. In this cross-sectional study, we explored the joint and unique influence of bullying involvement—as perpetrators, victims, or outsiders—and alexithymia on somatic complaints in a sample of 179 Italian middle-school students (aged 11–15). Findings revealed an indirect association between bullying perpetration and victimization complaints through alexithymia. L'articolo descrive i dati di una ricerca, condotta attraverso un'indagine quantitativa effettuata nelle scuole secondarie di II grado di una città del Meridione,. A partire da alcune ipotesi teoriche, suffragate dalla letteratura contemporanea sul tema.della violenza fra pari, avanza l'ipotesi che il bullismo sia una delle risposte comportamentali degli adolescenti alla impossibilità di stabilire relazioni soddisfacenti con gli adulti. Nei gruppi dei pari si evidenziano,quindi, idiosincrasie e conflitti identitari che nel "capro espiatorio" e nella drammaturgia ritualizzata (Goffman 1996) della violenza hanno il loro assi portanti.

Advanced fragmentation stage of oxide coating on polymer substrate under biaxial tension

Crack patterns of 100-nm-thick silicon oxide coating on polypropylene film subjected to equibiaxial stress loading are studied experimentally. The loading is achieved by means of a bulging cell mounted under an optical microscope with stepwise pressurization of film specimens. The evolution of the coating fragment area distribution at relatively high strains is modeled using Weibull statistics to describe the coating strength. The fragment area distribution at an advanced fragmentation stage is shown to scale with the average fragment area, the latter being a power function of the applied biaxial strain.
