Heat semi-group and generalized flows on complete Riemannian manifolds

2011

Abstract We will use the heat semi-group to regularize functions and vector fields on Riemannian manifolds in order to develop Di Perna–Lions theory in this setting. Malliavinʼs point of view of the bundle of orthonormal frames on Brownian motions will play a fundamental role. As a byproduct we will construct diffusion processes associated to an elliptic operator with singular drift.

On globally generated vector bundles on projective spaces

2009

AbstractA classification is given for globally generated vector bundles E of rank k on Pn having first Chern class c1(E)=2. In particular, we get that they split if k<n unless E is a twisted null-correlation bundle on P3. In view of the well-known correspondence between globally generated vector bundles and maps to Grassmannians, we obtain, as a corollary, a classification of double Veronese embeddings of Pn into a Grassmannian G(k−1,N) of (k−1)-planes in PN.

Kähler Tubes of Constant Radial Holomorphic Sectional Curvature

1997

We determine (up to holomorphic isometries) the family of Kahler tubes, around totally geodesic complex submanifolds, of constant radial holomorphic sectional curvature when the centreP of the tube is either simply connected or a complex hypersurface withH1 (P, R)=0. In the last case, these tubes have the topology of tubular neighbourhoods of the zero section of the complex lines bundles over symplectic manifolds (when they are Kahler) of the Kostant-Souriau prequantization.

Adapted Metrics for Dominated splittings.

2007

International audience; A Riemannian metric is adapted to an hyperbolic set of a diffeomorphism if, for this metric, the expansion/contraction of the unstable/stable directions can be seen after only one iteration. A dominated splitting is a notion of weak hyperbolicity where the tangent bundle of the manifold splits in invariant subbundles such that the vector expansion on one bundle is uniformly smaller than on the next bundle. The existence of an adapted metric for a dominated splitting has been asked by Hirsch Pugh and Shub who answer positively to the question in the special case of a dominated splitting in two bundles, one being of dimension 1. This paper gives a complete answer to th…

Product and service bundling decisions and their effects on purchase intention

1997

Examines the effects of four factors (the bundle: pure or mixed, the price discount, the functional complementarity of bundle components, and the number of bundle components) on consumers’ intentions to purchase product and service bundles. The findings were relatively consistent across product (automobile) and service (automotive service) contexts, and illustrate that pure bundles are preferred to mixed bundles, and a greater price discount is preferred to a lesser one. The results also indicate that five component bundles generate greater purchase intention than either three or seven component bundles, and that “very related” bundle components result in greater purchase intention than eit…

Avoiding tunnel collisions between fibular collateral ligament and ACL posterolateral bundle reconstruction

2010

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the risk of tunnel collisions of the fibular collateral ligament (FCL) and posterolateral bundle anterior cruciate ligament (PLB-ACL) tunnels during a combined FCL and double-dundle (DB) ACL reconstruction. METHODS: Thirty-six 4th-generation synthetic femurs (Sawbones, Pacific Research Laboratories, Vashon, WA) were utilized, and two different femur sizes were used. A FCL tunnel and a PLB-ACL tunnel were reamed on each femur. The tunnels of synthetic specimens that did not have a collision were filled with an epoxy resin augmented with BaSO(4) and radiographic evaluation, and Multidetector CT exams of the specimens were performed. RESULTS: …

Diagnostic accuracy of cone-beam CT compared with panoramic images in predicting retromolar canal during extraction of impacted mandibular third mola…

2014

Objectives: The clinical significance of the existence of a retromolar canal and of its neurovascular content is not yet clear. The aim of the present study was to assess the visibility, diameter and course of the mandibular retromolarcanal (MRC) using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scan -had been taken for pre-operative radiographic evaluation of impacted mandibular third molars- compared to panoramic radiographs. Study Design: Subjects eligible for study enrollment were those who underwent preoperative CBCT scan for the extraction of impactedmandibular third molars were determined to be extremely close to the mandibular canal on panoramic radiographs. Radiographs were screened for th…

Skillful management of exodontia complication to prevent dreadful sequelae

2011

Successful surgical treatments depend upon accurate diagnosis, judicious treatment planning, selection and execution of an appropriate surgical technique, and on a well monitored post-operative period. However, despite these precautions, extraction of teeth (particularly third molar) is exposed to the accidents and complications common to all buccomaxillary and facial interventions. A maxillary third molar may be displaced in maxillary sinus, nearby soft tissue, or may migrate in a superioposterior direction towards paraphyrangeal space, or infratemporal fossa. Dislocating the maxillary third molar in infratemporal fossa is one of the worst nightmare as this area has complex anatomy consist…

NIMBUS — Interactive Method for Nondifferentiable Multiobjective Optimization Problems

1996

An interactive method, NIMBUS, for nondifferentiable multiobjective optimization problems is introduced. We assume that every objective function is to be minimized The idea of NIMBUS is that the decision maker can easily indicate what kind of improvements are desired and what kind of impairments are tolerable at the point considered.
