The study presented here is the conclusion of an inventory about hospitals having existed on the territory of some dioceses (Autun, Auxerre, Chalon-sur-Saône, Nevers and the south of that of Langres diocese) between XIIth and XVth centuries. Based on the data collected, an atlas of assistance and a directory of sources on medieval hospitals of the study area has been made. The compiled informations proved to be very different but also very heterogeneous. Among the range of products elaborated in the Dukes of Burgundy vineyards at the end of the Middle Ages, the galant is first quoted in 1383. This paper strives to shed new light upon the sources in which the galant appears, i.e. the accountability documentation of the Dukes’ vineyards. Our research focuses on two demesnes located near Dijon: Talant and Chenôve.The study of this rare product (2-4% of total production), which was certainly flavored with gentian, shows that the notion of fortified wine should be reconsidered for the 14th and 15th centuries. This work is a synthesis of tumuli graves in Burgundy and Franche-Comté from Hallstatt C to La Tene B periods. The objective is to characterize the funeral assemblages in Southern Côte-d’Or as well as the influences and the tendencies that went through this area during the early Iron Age. A set of comparisons shows the particularities of the Southern Côte-d’Or at several levels: the recruitment of the populations, the position and orientation of the deceased, the architecture of the graves and their internal arrangements, the typology and positions of the personals items, the nature and locations of the deposits. Substratum diversity in this vineyard is the result of a very long history explained by the diversity of Jurassic sedimentary facies and Tertiary tectonic activity. Recent excavations at Au-dessus de Bergis in Gevrey-Chambertin (Côte-d’Or, Burgundy) brought to light numerous, rectangular aligned pits interpreted as an ancient vineyard dated from the end of the 1st/mid-2nd century to the 3rd century AD. The vineyard is largely extent in area and was bounded to the south by a hedge or fence. It was composed of parallel rows that may have been trained over and along high, inclined wooden frames. Vine stocks were renewed by layering, over several generations of plants, according to some agricultural wine-growing techniques recommended by Latin agronomists.
