Exploring the Anatomy of Franchising: A Cross-National Examination of US and Finnish Franchise Contract Provisions

2004

The present study focuses on describing and comparing the provisions of the franchise contracts and pre-sale disclosures to prospective franchisees in the USA and Finland. A fact that makes the investigation especially interesting is that no franchising specific legislation exists in Finland. Whereas in the USA franchisors are by a directive of the Federal Trade Commission required to publicly disclose key information on their franchise systems. The information is of paramount importance for potential franchisees who need to analyze franchise offering(s) before their buying decision. Two separate samples were developed for the study. Methods for Modeling Ecosystem Services: A Review

2015

Abstract Modeling ecosystem services (ES) is an essential tool for the development of strategies that will ensure their future supply, provision and quantification. Given the rapid development in this area of research, a review of the different approaches used to model ES was performed, using an analytical framework based on five criteria for comparing the existing methodological approaches: the types of ES, availability of data sources, spatial scale, types of models used and the possible outcomes of the models. Regulating services were the most commonly modeled, followed by provisioning, cultural, and supporting services. The most frequently used data for modeling were secondary data (alr…

Liikkeenjohdon konsultointi - nuori ja kasvava toimiala

1999

Liikkeenjohdon konsultoinnin professionaalistumista on Suomessa tutkittu vuosikymmenen puolivälissä. Tutkimuksen mukaan ala on nuori ja vain osittain järjestäytynyt. Konsulttien koulutustaso on kirjava, vaihtuvuus on suuri eikä alalle ole muodostunut markkinasuojaa. Monet ulkoiset muutostekijät luovat kuitenkin tarvetta professionaalistumisprosessin etenemiselle. Professio kuvaa joukkoa ihmisiä, joilla on samanlainen koulutuksellinen tausta, siihen liittyvä tiedeperusta ja näihin liittyvä yhteiskunnan hyväksyntä ammatillisine ja eettisine normistoineen. Artikkelissa käsitellään profession muodostumista liikkeenjohdon konsultoinnissa. Kirjoittaja näkee toimialan arvoketjuna. Sen muodostavat …

Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.5897/AJBM11.1203 Open Access Information and communication technology (ICT) is considered to play an important role to reduce information cost for potential foreign investors. While a growing body of literature has suggested such connections, conceptual clarity is yet to be achieved. This study introduces a conceptual framework based on the Information-theoretic approach and transaction cost perspective to explore how ICT may reduce information cost. To illustrate our proposed framework, we apply it to examine the role of Internet-based informati…

Study Regarding the Effects of Demographic Transition on Labor Market and Public Pension System in Central and Eastern Europe

2020

Abstract Population and the quality of labor force are the “strengths” features’ that ensure socio-economic development of a country. Logistyka stanowi koncepcję zarządzania przepływami materiałów, towarów i informacji, zarówno w skali przedsiębiorstwa, jak i całego łańcucha, a nawet całej sieci dostaw.

Non-family Executives in Family Businesses : a Literature Review

2007

The role of non-family executives in family businesses is under-researched in comparison with its importance. Reviewing the existing literature serves as a startingpoint for promoting future research. Based on a literature analysis, we develop a model for the interaction process between a family owner and a non-family executive. The main contributions for the non-family executive in family business literature are presented and structured following this interaction process. Finally, potential and unanswered questions help determine directions of future research.
