Possibility of Wastewater Treatment Using MFC with Ni-Co Catalyst of Fuel Electrode

2016

Abstract One of the problems with microbial fuel cells is a low current density of those energy sources. Nonetheless, it is possible to increase the current density by using the catalyst for fuel electrode (anode) - as long as a low cost catalyst can be found. The possibility of wastewater treatment using the Ni-Co alloy as catalyst for MFC’s is presented in this paper. The alloys were obtained with different concentrations of Co (15 and 50% of Co). The increase of current density with Ni-Co catalyst is approximately 0,1 mA/cm2. So, a fundamental possibility wastewater treatment using the Ni-Co alloy as catalyst for microbial fuel cells was presented.

Compulsive Internet Use and Academic Procrastination: Significant Comparative, Correlative and Predicting Indicators in a Romanian Student Sample

2017

Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate significant measures between indicators / factors associated to compulsive Internet use and academic procrastination behaviors, for a sample of students, from Romanian education institutions. Previous transcultural findings indicate that compulsive Internet use and procrastination behaviours, but in most cases investigated separately, can interfere, distract, delay and / or have a negative impact on academic work / achievement (completing reading assignments, homework, studying for exams / academic failure), task performance and quality of life (personal and social obligations). Romanian participants were asked on a voluntary basis and w…

Adaptivity in E-Learning Systems

2018

Abstract The differentiated designing of lessons from the virtual environment can have beneficial effects on the student. In order to achieve the objectives proposed in the course, the content should not only meet the student’s expectations but must be designed adaptively according to the defining elements of each learner. Adaptability in content is an essential factor in maintaining motivation, involving the student, and engaging him/her in the study. The paper analyses approaches for the adaptive building of content by identifying the elements that can influence the achievement of the objectives - motivation, expectation, learner’s style, a priori knowledge

Non-Kinetic Warfare Challenges of the Information Ecosystem’s Phenomenology – The Pattern to a New Battleground

2018

Abstract A new technological paradigm often leads to a new societal paradigm, and not vice versa. Challenges faced are not only related to technology, it is the human consciousness that determines the role and influences the outcome of these tools. A comprehensive approach is desirable to understand the regular and irregular interdependence between social ecosystems and information ecosystems. The phenomenon offers the facility to induce short-term attitudes, and long-term mutations from the perspective of societal security, informational actions shapes collective attitudes, and influences people's critical choices. Deciphering, exposing and counteracting information aggressions may be poss…

Legal Liability Regarding The Regime of Organization, Systematization and Signalization of Roads in Romania

2017

Abstract People and society`s life can not be understood out of conduct rules that must be respected by everybody. Legal liability represents both a fundamental form of law and a basic component of the whole legal system. One of the fundamental principles of law is liability. Those who break legal rules alter laws and citizens` legal rights and interests. They disturb, sometimes in a serious way, public order and good going, thus, endangering the most important values of society. Either the frequency or severity of breaking laws or their negative impact on social balance and legal order oblige law makers to both set up accurately the limits of liability regarding these commitments and penal…

Abstract Intensive Care Units (ICU) medical staff is frequently subject of great amount of psychological and physical occupational pressure. There are three main sources of pressure: professional responsability for the medical act, organizational requirements and interpersonal/intrapersonal relationships. Materials and method: The paper presents a study on the multidimensional diagnosis of occupational pressure/stress perception of the medical staff of an ICU (N=34). The romanian form of Pressure Management Indicator (PMI) [1][2][3][7] was applied to all participants. The instrument is designed for multidimensional evaluation of occupational stress. The objective was to identify specific in…

Perspective Correction For Image Processing

2015

Abstract The paper proposes an algorithm for applying the perspective correction of images containing human faces. Based on the coordinates of the two eyes, of the center of the mouth and of a point on the line of the mouth, one can estimate the angle of inclination of the face. After applying the perspective correction, the area corresponding to the face can be used by a face recognition algorithm based on aspect in order to improve the good recognition rate.

Causal Reasoning in Mild Mental Disabled Children

2017

Abstract This study is focused to analyze mild mental retardation children’s ability to make causal attributions from sparse data. The research method selected was that of an unifactorial experiment starting from the assumption that children with mild mental retardation should ask for help or explore the environment following the causal attribution they will do according to the statistical data they receive. This study was conducted on a sample of 23 mild mental retardation children (ages between 9 and 12). The participants were randomly divided into two experimental groups and they were asked to complete a specific task (press a button to scroll a set of images). The results obtained using…
