SaaS provides opportunities for flexible pricing but creates challenges on how to achieve a profitable revenue stream. In this multicase study, the revenue models of five SaaS providers were examined. The main interest of the study was to investigate the different revenue models and the reasons for using particular revenue models. The revenue models were found to be mainly based on software renting, with a variety of pricing strategies. For SaaS providers, software renting generates a steady and predictable stream of revenue. Developing Mobile Ontologies; Who, Why, Where, and How?

2007

The number of mobile subscribers in the world is soon reaching the three billion mark. According to the newest estimates, majority of the subscribers are already in the developing countries, whereas the number of subscribers in the industrialized countries is about to stagnate around one billion. Because especially in the developing countries the only access to Internet are mobile devices, developing high quality services based on them grows in importance. Ontologies are an important ingredient towards more complicated mobile services. In this paper we refine the taxonomy for mobile ontologies and discuss their creation, business models, maintenance and intellectual property rights (IPR).

Financial aspects of business models : reducing costs and increasing revenues in a cloud context

2018

The emergence of cloud computing induces opportunities for software vendors and for organizations with great storage needs. Indeed, software companies have begun to adopt cloud technologies and offer their software as a service to customers instead of selling software products. On the other hand, due to the exponentially growing volume of digital content, organizations have an increasing demand for storage and need to choose between private, public, and hybrid storage solutions. This decision requires c…
