2020
The Obernai ’Neuen Brunnen’ necropolis in Lower Alsace yielded 29 tombs attributed to the Middle Neolithic. It was probably founded during the Early Grossgartach, at the end of the 48th century BC, and abandoned during the Roessen, perhaps during the Early Roessen, and in any case before the middle of the 46th century BC. The most original feature of this mortuary assemblage is that most of the tombs belong to the Planig-Friedberg period (the last stylistic phase of the Grossgartach) and the Roessen. The mortuary practices of these periods are still poorly known in the region. The necropolis is composed of three spatial groups, the most ancient of which contains all the Grossgartach tombs a…

Protonic ceramic fuel cell : elaboration and characterization. Investigation of the BaZr0.8Y0.2O3-d electrolyte by electrochemical impedance spectros…
2021
One of the current global challenges is to find novel, clean and efficient techniques for the energy production. The use of electrochemical cells and hydrogen is one of the solutions. These cells convert the excess energy produced by conventional systems into hydrogen by steam electrolysis. The hydrogen can be stored and transformed into electricity when needed in the fuel cell mode. Among the different electrochemical cells, protonic ceramic electrochemical cells have attracted much attention due to their high efficiency at intermediate temperature (400 – 600 °C). In addition, these systems offer the advantage of not diluting the fuel in electrolysis mode. This thesis work focuses on the e…
New methods for the determination of local residual stresses
2022
Splat solidification in thermal sprayed coatings relies on phenomena of various origins, time constants, and dimensional scales which altogether lead to complex residual stress states. As a result, in-service performance may be under or overestimated. Hence, this work aims at characterizing residual stress fields using high resolution instruments: a Raman spectrometer and a tailor-made Near-Field Scanning Microwave Microscope (NFSMM). Investigation areas are of 1 µm and 0.020 µm diameter respectively, both techniques are non-destructive and rely on electromagnetic interaction with matter.A preliminary study was conducted on sintered trigonal Cr2O3 with NFSMM as the technique is used for the…

2013
In recent years a series of studies made it possible to characterize the productions of thin walled pottery traditionally identified by the term “wheel-turned pottery”. The establishment of regional typologies and the realisation of petrographic analyses helped to determine these technical groups which seem to have appeared in the northern alpine zone at Hallstatt D2-D3. Today we are able to compare the results of these selected analyses and draw a temporary conclusion illuminating the context of acquisition of the potter’s wheel and its assimilation by different cultural groups within a wide spread geographical area comprising contrasting landscapes between the centre of France and the Cze…
