Exclusive ϱ0 and φ muoproduction at large Q2
1994
Abstract Exclusive ϱ 0 and φ muoproduction on deuterium, carbon and calcium has been studied in the kinematic range 2 Q 2 2 and 40 Q 2 dependence of the cross sections, the transverse momentum distributions for the vector mesons, the decay angular distributions and, in the case of the ϱ 0 , nuclear effects. The data for 0 production are compatible with a diffractive mechanism. The distinct features of φ production are a smaller cross section and less steep p t 2 distributions than those for the 0 mesons.
Thermodynamics of Proton Binding of Halloysite Nanotubes
2016
In this paper, new information on physical and chemical properties of the widely used nanostructured Halloysite mineral are reported. Given that the Halloysite has a tubular structure formed by a variable number of wrapped layers containing Si-OH and Al-OH groups, their proton binding affinity was measured at different ionic strengths and ionic media by means of potentiometric measurements in heterogeneous phase. One protonation constant for the Si-OH groups and two for the Al-OH groups were determined. The protonation constant values increase with increasing of the ionic strength in all the ionic media. This suggests that the presence of a background electrolyte stabilizes the protonated s…
Quark and gluon distributions and $\alpha_{s}$ from nucleon structure functions at low $x$
1993
Abstract The Q2 dependence of the structure functions F2p and F2d recently measured by the NMC is compared with the predictions of perturbative QCD at next-to-leading order. Good agreement is observed, leading to accurate determinations of the quark and gluon distributions in the range 0.008 ⩽ × ⩽ 0.5. The strong coupling constant is measured from the low x data; the result agrees with previous determinations.
Introducing a new method for efficient visualization of complex shape 3D ultrasonic phased-array C-scans
2017
Automated robotic inspection systems allow the collection of large data volumes, compared to existing inspection systems. To maximize the throughput associated with the non-destructive evaluation phase, it is crucial that the reconstructed inspection data sets are generated and examined rapidly without a loss of detail. Data analysis often becomes the bottleneck of automated inspections. Therefore, new data visualization tools, suitable to screen the NDT information obtained through robotic systems, are urgently required. This paper presents a new approach, for the generation of three-dimensional ultrasonic C-scans of large and complex parts, suitable for application to high data throughput…
A modal approach for the evaluation of the response sensitivity of structural systems subjected to non-stationary random processes
2005
A method for the evaluation of the response sensitivity of both classically and non-classically damped discrete linear structural systems under stochastic actions is presented. The proposed approach requires the following items: (a) a suitable modal expansion of the response; (b) the derivation in analytical form of the equations governing the evolution of the derivatives of the response (the so-called sensitivity equations) with respect to the parameters that define the structural model; (c) an extensive use of the Kronecker algebra for determining the analytical expressions of the sensitivity of the structural response statistics to non-stationary random input processes. Moreover, a step-…
Sturzo multitasker : dalle opere economico-sociali alla rete politica
2020

Steady-state assemblages in a Mediterranean hypertrophic reservoir. The role of Microcystis ecomorphological variability in maintaining an apparent e…
2003
Lake Arancio is a hypertrophicMediterranean man-made lake, located on the southern coast of Sicily. Its artificial origin and the climate make it a very dynamic environment, strongly characterised by very wide water-level fluctuations. These vertical water movements interfere with the thermal stability of the water body often causing the breaking of the thermocline in mid-summer. In addition, the summer level-decrease influences the nutrient dynamics and modifies the zmix/zeu ratio. All these modifications were observed to support a high environmental variability, which was reflected by the richness of its phytoplankton composition and by its dynamics. Nevertheless, an investigation carried…
