The potentially long and interesting archaeological sequence revealed by systematic survey at the site of Alt Del Punxó (Muro de l’Alcoi, Alacant) was the basis for initiating a study of the locality’s subsurface structures using new methods of remote sensing. Geophysical survey (magnetometry and tomography) and systematic augering revealed buried structures, including monumental earthworks, and guided subsequent excavations to collect more detailed data about the nature and age of these prehistoric features. Abstract The kinetics of the oxidation of malonic acid and (its substituted compounds, methyl-, ethyl-, butyl- and benzyl-malonic acid) by ceric ions has been studied at 20.0 °C in the absence and the presence of the surfactant N-tetradecyl-N,N-dimethylamine oxide (C 14 DMAO). The addition of increasing amounts of C 14 DMAO influences the rate of the redox process to an extent that significantly depends on the hydrophobicity of the reducing species. The Saccharomyces cerevisiae Start repressor Whi5, the functional analogue of mammalian pRB, shuttles between the nucleus and the cytoplasm throughout the cell cycle: enters into the nucleus at the end of mitosis and remains nuclear until Start. We studied the mechanisms involved in this spatial regulation. The nuclear import depends on the beta-karyopherins of the classical import pathway Kap95 and Cse1. Whi5 contains a monopartite and a bipartite classical NLS localized in its N-terminal region which are functionally redundant. Labor Productivity Growth: Disentangling Technology and Capital Accumulation

We adopt a counterfactual approach to decompose labor productivity growth into growth of Technological Productivity (TEP), growth of the capital-labor ratio and growth of Total Factor Productivity (TFP). We bring the decomposition to the data using international countrysectoral information spanning from the 1960s to the 2000s and a nonparametric generalized kernel method, which enables us to estimate the production function allowing for heterogeneity across all relevant dimensions: countries, sectors and time. Nonlinear economic growth: Some theory and cross-country evidence

Abstract This paper aims to test the existence of different growth regimes, that is of different relationships between growth rate and income level. We propose a simple nonlinear growth model and test its empirical implications by estimating Markov transition matrices and stochastic kernels. We show that growth is indeed nonlinear: a first phase of slow or zero growth is followed by a take-off and, finally, by a phase of deceleration. We discuss the relevance of these results with respect to the issue of convergence and reversibility of development, in the light of models of structural change and technological diffusion.
Modeling temporal treatment effects with zero inflated semi-parametric regression models: The case of local development policies in France

International audience; A semi-parametric approach is proposed to estimate the variation along time of the effects of two distinct public policies that were devoted to boost rural development in France over a similar period of time. At a micro data level, it is often observed that the dependent variable, such as local employment, does not vary along time, so that we face a kind of zero inflated phenomenon that cannot be dealt with a continuous response model. Der Fundplatz wurde am heute trockengelegten Lac des Echets lokalisiert, in einem sandigen Kontext alluvialen Ursprungs, der sich den OSL-Datierungen zufolge im jüngeren Spätglazial abgelagert hatte. Die ergrabene Fläche ist zu klein, um die räumliche Organisation der durch verstreute Geröll- und Feuersteingeräte materialisierten Spuren zu erfassen. Der größte Teil der Funde wird dem Frühmesolithikum des Typs Beuronien zugeordnet, zu dem einige Elemente des älteren Sauveterrien kommen. Die 14C-Datierungen ordnen diese Belegungsphasen in das mittlere Präboreal ein. Isomer effects in fragmentation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons

We have observed significant differences in the fragmentation patterns of isomeric Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) cations following collisions with helium atoms at center-of-mass energies around 100 eV. This is in contrast to the situation at other collision energies or in photo-absorption experiments where isomeric effects are very weak and where the lowest-energy dissociation channels (H- and C2H2-loss) domihate in statistical fragmentation processes. In the 100 eV range, non-statistical fragmentation also competes and is uniquely linked to losses of single carbon atoms (CHx-losses).
