Background Resting sympathetic hyperactivity and impaired parasympathetic reactivation after exercise have been described in patients with heart failure (HF). However, the association of these autonomic changes in patients with HF and sarcopenia is unknown. Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of autonomic modulation on sarcopenia in male patients with HF. Multisummability for generalized power series

We develop multisummability, in the positive real direction, for generalized power series with natural support, and we prove o-minimality of the expansion of the real field by all multisums of these series. This resulting structure expands both $\mathbb{R}_{\mathcal{G}}$ and the reduct of $\mathbb{R}_{\mathrm{an}^*}$ generated by all convergent generalized power series with natural support; in particular, its expansion by the exponential function defines both the Gamma function on $(0,\infty)$ and the Zeta function on $(1,\infty)$.

This review covers the role of ultrasonography as an essential non-invasive diagnostic approach when facing patients with anemia, a common clinical problem. Abdomen ultrasound is well recognized as a first-line examination in the setting of blood loss, both acute and chronic. Less is clear about the additional opportunities, given by ultrasound in anemia, due to the many other possible causes.

Mappings of Finite Distortion : Compactness of the Branch Set

We show that an entire branched cover of finite distortion cannot have a compact branch set if its distortion satisfies a certain asymptotic growth condition. We furthermore show that this bound is strict by constructing an entire, continuous, open and discrete mapping of finite distortion which is piecewise smooth, has a branch set homeomorphic to an (n - 2)-dimensional torus and distortion arbitrarily close to the asymptotic bound. AbstractGlial cells extrude acid equivalents to maintain pHi. Although four mechanisms have been described so far, pHi-control under physiological conditions is still not sufficiently explained. We therefore investigated whether a H+-translocating ATPase is involved in glial pHi homeostasis using an established glial cell line (C6 glioma). In the absence of bicarbonate, the inhibition of H+-ATPases by NEM led to a pHi decrease. The application of a more specific inhibitor (NBD-Cl) showed that the H+-ATPase involved is of the vacuolar type. Inhibition went along with delayed cell swelling.
