Our aim was to determine the prognostic value of computed tomography coronary angiography (CTCA), coronary artery calcium scoring (CACS) and Morise clinical score in patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease (CAD). A total of 722 patients (480 men; 62.7 +/- 10.9 years) who were referred for further cardiac evaluation underwent CACS and contrast-enhanced CTCA to evaluate the presence and severity of CAD. Of these, 511 (71%) patients were without previous history of CAD. The (17)O NMR spectrum of CaAl(2)Si(2)O(8) glass shows two types of O sites that are not present in the crystalline material. One of these, with (17)O NMR parameters C(Q) = 2.3 MHz and delta = +20 ppm, has been assigned to a "tricluster" O, a local geometry in which the O is coordinated to three tetrahedrally coordinated atoms, either Al or Si. For crystalline CaAl(4)O(7), a tricluster site (with three Al linkages to O, i.e., OAl(3)) has been characterized experimentally, with a C(Q) of 2.5 MHz and a delta of about +40 ppm. The aim of this work was to compare experimental investigations on effects of lidocaine, calcium and, BRL 34915 on reentries to simulated data obtained by use of a model of propagation based on the Huygens' construction method already described in previous works. Calcium and lidocaine effects are investigated on anisotropic conduction conditions. In both cases, reduction in conduction velocities are observed. In lidocaine case, a refractory area is located along the longitudinal axis. Protein kinase C appears to be involved in the regulation of airway contractility. Phorbol 12,13-diacetate (PDA; 0.01-10 microM), a protein kinase C activator, produced a transient relaxation followed by a sustained contraction of human isolated bronchus. Different protein kinase C inhibitors (calphostin C, staurosporine and 1-(5-isoquinolinesulfonyl)-2-methylpiperazine) (H-7), nifedipine (NIF; 1 microM) or incubation with Ca(2+)-free medium, inhibited the spasmogenic response to phorbol, while ouabain (10 microM) suppressed only the initial relaxation. SCA40 (0.1 nM-0.1 mM) produced concentration-dependent suppression of the spontaneous tone of human isolated bronchus (-log EC50 = 6.85 +/- 0.09; n = 10) and reached a maximal relaxation similar to that of theophylline (3 mM). The potency (-log EC50 values) of SCA40 compared to other relaxants was rolipram (7.44 +/- 0.12; n = 9) > SCA40 > or = levcromakalim (6.49 +/- 0.04; n = 6) > SKF94120 (5.87 +/- 0.10; n = 9). 2. Thin films of ${\mathrm{Pb}}_{0.76}{\mathrm{Ca}}_{0.24}{\mathrm{TiO}}_{3}$ (PTC), which is a classical ferroelectric as a bulk material and of the relaxor material $\mathrm{Pb}({\mathrm{Sc}}_{0.5}{\mathrm{Nb}}_{0.5}){\mathrm{O}}_{3}$, have been produced to find out whether nanocrystalline ferroelectric films show a grain-size-induced relaxor behavior. Amorphous films were deposited onto a $\mathrm{Ti}∕\mathrm{Pt}$ coated silicon (100) wafer by reactive $\text{rf}$ sputtering.
