JavaScript ja takaisinkutsut suomalaisilla verkkosivuilla : takaisinkutsumenetelmän yleisyys ja ongelmat

2016

JavaScript on hyvin paljon käytetty ohjelmointikieli ja verkkosivuilla vallitsevassa asemassa. JavaScript-kieliset ohjelmat sisältävät kuitenkin paljon virheitä. Verkkokeskusteluissa ”takaisinkutsuhelvetti”, eli tilanne jossa ohjelmakoodi on monien sisäkkäisten takaisinkutsullisten funktioiden vuoksi hyvin vaikesti ymmärrettävä ja hallittava, nostetaan yhdeksi kielen kipupisteistä.

Granulocyte–Macrophage Colony-Stimulating Factor Is Essential for Normal Wound Healing

2006

Granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) is a multipotent growth factor, which plays an important role during the process of wound healing. In clinical settings it has occasionally been employed in the treatment of cutaneous wounds of diverse etiologies. In a previous study, we have shown the positive influence of GM-CSF on full thickness excisional wounds in transgenic mice overexpressing GM-CSF in the basal layer of the epidermis. Direct GM-CSF action as well as indirect processes through the induction of secondary cytokines were proposed to contribute towards the beneficial effects. In this study, we analyzed the process of wound healing in transgenic mice overexpressing…

Fragment Difficulty in Priming on Word-Completion Tests

2006

Word-fragment completion is a frequently used test in implicit memory research. In this test priming is the relevant variable. Priming is obtained by subtracting the proportion of nonstudied word fragments correctly completed (called “completion difficulty baseline”) from the studied word fragments correctly completed. Since completion difficulty can spuriously vary greatly between experimental conditions, its effect on magnitude of priming is studied. Normative frequency of occurrence of target words was considered because their influence over performance is known. In an experiment using a word-fragment completion test, participants' completion of fragments at three levels of completion d…

Female Oviposition Decisions and Their Impact on Progeny Life-History Traits

2008

An important factor affecting the life-history of an organism is parental investment in reproduction: reproductive decisions are almost invariably costly. Therefore, reproductive decisions should be beneficial in terms of increased offspring number or fitness. For example, egg laying decisions in many insects can influence resource availability of the offspring through changes in the larval density, and resource availability will have effects on many life-history traits. Here we studied whether female reproductive decisions affect offspring fitness in Callosobruchus maculatus seed beetles. Females laid more eggs on black-eye beans than on mung beans. However, when the difference in the surf…

Clinical studies of sudden upper airway obstruction in patients with hereditary angioedema due to C1 esterase inhibitor deficiency.

2003

Background Hereditary angioedema due to C1 esterase inhibitor deficiency is clinically characterized by recurrent and self-limiting skin, intestinal, and laryngeal edema. Asphyxiation by laryngeal edema is the main cause of death among patients who die of hereditary angioedema. This study describes the age at which laryngeal edema first occurs, the time between onset and full development, and the effectiveness of therapy and prophylaxis. Methods Information on 123 patients with hereditary angioedema was obtained from medical histories and reports by the general practitioners, emergency physicians, and hospitals involved. Results Sixty-one patients (49.6%) experienced a total of 596 laryngea…

Enhanced levels of S-linalool by metabolic engineering of the terpenoid pathway in spike lavender leaves

2013

Transgenic Lavandula latifolia plants overexpressing the linalool synthase (LIS) gene from Clarkia breweri, encoding the LIS enzyme that catalyzes the synthesis of linalool were generated. Most of these plants increased significantly their linalool content as compared to controls, especially in the youngest leaves, where a linalool increase up to a 1000% was observed. The phenotype of increased linalool content observed in young leaves was maintained in those T1 progenies that inherit the LIS transgene, although this phenotype was less evident in the flower essential oil. Cross-pollination of transgenic spike lavender plants allowed the generation of double transgenic plants containing the …

Expression of spearmint limonene synthase in transgenic spike lavender results in an altered monoterpene composition in developing leaves.

2008

We generated transgenic spike lavender (Lavandula latifolia) plants constitutively expressing the limonene synthase (LS) gene from spearmint (Mentha spicata), encoding the LS enzyme that catalyzes the synthesis of limonene from geranyl diphosphate. Overexpression of the LS transgene did not consistently affect monoterpene profile in pooled leaves or flowers from transgenic T(0) plants. Analyses from cohorts of leaves sampled at different developmental stages showed that essential oil accumulation in transgenic and control plants was higher in developing than in mature leaves. Furthermore, developing leaves of transgenic plants contained increased limonene contents (more than 450% increase c…
