Conditioning on MV-algebras and additive measures —I

1997

Abstract We present a lattice-ordered semigroup approach for the foundation of conditional events which covers the special situations where the underlying (unconditional) events are Boolean or fuzzy, respectively. Our proposal is quite different from other, ring theoretical, approaches. The problem of extending additivity of uncertainty measures from unconditional to conditional events will be discussed.

On generalised subnormal subgroups of finite groups

2013

Let be a formation of finite groups. A subgroup M of a finite group G is said to be -normal in G if belongs to . A subgroup U of a finite group G is called a K--subnormal subgroup of G if either U = G or there exist subgroups U = U0 ≤ U1 ≤ … ≤ Un = G such that Ui − 1 is either normal or -normal in Ui, for i = 1, 2, …, n. The K--subnormality could be regarded as the natural extension of the subnormality to formation theory and plays an important role in the structural study of finite groups. The main purpose of this paper is to analyse classes of finite groups whose K--subnormal subgroups are exactly the subnormal ones. Some interesting extensions of well-known classes of groups emerge.

On the group of the automorphisms of some algebraic systems

1968

Within a framework of general algebra we firstly formulate a proposition on the group of the automorphisms of some irreducible algebrae (id est algebrae without proper non trivial subalgebrae). This proposition includes as particular cases the uniqueness of the automorphisms of the rational field and the Burnside theorem on the commutant of an irreducible set of operators of a finite dimensional vector space over an algebraically closed field. Afterwards we apply the general proposition to modules with irreducible sets of semilinear operators and we obtain a theorem which generalises from several points of view the Burnside theorem. Finally we derive as an application a proposition which sp…

Unification in superintuitionistic predicate logics and its applications

2018

AbstractWe introduce unification in first-order logic. In propositional logic, unification was introduced by S. Ghilardi, see Ghilardi (1997, 1999, 2000). He successfully applied it in solving systematically the problem of admissibility of inference rules in intuitionistic and transitive modal propositional logics. Here we focus on superintuitionistic predicate logics and apply unification to some old and new problems: definability of disjunction and existential quantifier, disjunction and existential quantifier under implication, admissible rules, a basis for the passive rules, (almost) structural completeness, etc. For this aim we apply modified specific notions, introduced in proposition…

Some Problems on Homomorphisms and Real Function Algebras

2001

In this paper we solve a problem about the representation of all homomorphisms on a real function algebra as point evaluations and another two about function algebras in which homomorphisms are point evaluations on sequences in the algebra.

Confined subgroups in periodic simple finitary linear groups

2002

A subgroupX of the locally finite groupG is said to beconfined, if there exists a finite subgroupF≤G such thatX g∩F≠1 for allg∈G. Since there seems to be a certain correspondence between proper confined subgroups inG and non-trivial ideals in the complex group algebra ℂG, we determine the confined subgroups of periodic simple finitary linear groups in this paper.

Arcadio Blasco: : Cinco esculturas urbanas (1986-1991)

2013

A Hybrid Expressing Genetically Engineered Major Allergens of the <i>Parietaria</i> Pollen as a Tool for Specific Allergy Vaccination

2006

<i>Background:</i> Allergy is an immunological disorder affecting about 25% of the population living in the industrialized countries. Specific immunotherapy is the only treatment with a long-lasting relief of allergic symptoms and able to reduce the risk of developing new allergic sensitizations and inhibiting the development of clinical asthma in children treated for allergic rhinitis. <i>Methods:</i> By means of DNA recombinant technology, we were able to design a head to tail dimer expressing disulphide bond variants of the major allergen of the <i>Parietaria </i>pollen. IgE binding activity was studied by Western blot, ELISA inhibition assays and the …

Proposal for the Thuoux section as a candidate for the GSSP of the base of the Oxfordian stage.

2012

20 pages; International audience; The Thuoux section, located in South-Eastern Basin of France (coordinates: 44°30'55"E; 5°42'25"N), is a section that satisfies numerous demanding criteria as reference section (GSSP) for the base of the Oxfordian stage. Sedimentation was continuous in that the abundant ammonitic fauna yields no detectable hiatuses. The stratigraphic boundary is located between the Lamberti Zone and the Mariae Zone or more precisely between the Paucicostatum horizon (MARCHAND, 1979) and the Thuouxensis horizon (FORTWENGLER & MARCHAND, 1994a). In this section, there is a perfect mixing bet-ween Boreal ammonites (Cardioceratinae) whose species are used as stratigraphic markers…

Integrated stratigraphy of the potential candidate Oxfordian GSSP at Thuoux and Saint-Pierre d'Argençon (France).

2013

5 pages; International audience; The Thuoux and Saint-Pierre d'Argençon sections (Subalpine Basin, southeastern France) are proposed as a potential GSSP candidate for the Callovian-Oxfordian boundary. Several aspects of stratigraphy that have recently been applied in the two selected sections are discussed, including ammonite and nannofossil biostratigraphy, palynology, physical stratigraphy, and cyclostratigraphy.
